Yes, actually that was a bug and though it did look nice I had to take it out!

Perhaps we could make an option for more intensive lighting to bring that effect into the game.

And the nebulae is in front of the planet.
But those are small things, barely noticeable...

From which mod is the pic taken?
The Fenris don't look that ..... ehm..... long in FS1/2. And I don't recognise the station/dock/anything in the beckground (under the Orion).

Sorry Hades, I had to, it was a actually a bug. The ships were being rendered with combination of well over the maximum number of suns. It was causing a crash in debug exes.

However it did look good. I might have a go at making sun lighting more intense so we can have the same look ingame.
ANything I do will of course be optional.
