Red Faction 2

I'd like to hear some thoughts on RF2, has anyone else here got a chance to play it? I'd like to get some feedback from you guys.

The single player is good until about the 6th level. Then the main enemies become zombies. They simply walk at you and shoot. No hiding, no ducking, no dodging, nothing. The zombies don't even react when you place a grenade on them. They just home in on you while they constantly shoot. To make up for their extreme stupidity, it takes several head shots to put them down. So over half of the game consists of these guys. The first 4 levels are great though. I HATE zombies.

Multiplayer: Geo-mod is almost nonexistent in multi. The only thing geo-mod is used on is some pillars, some bridges, and small obvious "secret doorways". The implementation of geo-mod in RF2 is a step back from Rf1. No tunneling. Nothing more than 2 feet thick. And the bridges that you can blow up all have steel skelteons so even if the body of them is gone you can stiull walk on the pipes.

I seriously regret buying this game.
It could have been so good, and many parts are, except zombies and lack of geo-mod really destroy it.

half the game is a bit of an exaggeration.

RF2 pales in comparison to RF. You can't believe how disapointed I was when I played multiplayer. Shame on Volition for changing the Geo Mod...

PS2 version...

I also prefer the heat signatures for the rail-gun in RF, in RF2 you get a pulsing circle. And the weapon icons look like crap. If they saved all the GEO MOD power for better bot AI, then they made a mistake. A bot with a sniper rifle or a rail gun always hit his target, I don't think they needed to improve anything.

Is that even possible?!

Sorry.. Didn't like RF...

OK, I finished RF2 and boy did it stink! 3 bosses, the last one was tough, but the game just ended. Thats it, no more, end of story... Some stupid animation about "where they are now" but thats it. It was too quick, too easy and just lacked the adventure that was in the original RF. And so what, I keep playing it over and over till I open all the extra crap? I don't think so. I am seriously thinking of returning this game.

DAMN I'M DISAPOINTED!

Now I wait for Halo 2...

Multi-player has always been RF's strong point. Hopefully it'll come to PC

Trade it in for TimeSplitters 2
Though that game also has way too many Zombies.

Not really, I found single player RF was really good, lots of areas and good story. The multiplayer was lacking in number of arena's (PS2 version), but you could blow the hell out of most of them.

Now, RF2 has a weaker story, less areas, and the multiplayer stinks because of the lack of destructable areas.

Maybe RF3 will go back to the old ways of RF...

oh, I was refering to RF for the PC, I should've specified that.

Thanks for the sugestion. I picked up Time Splittes 2 and I like it. Yes, it has zombies, but I love moving through the different time periods. I love Arcade mode, and the multiplayer levels are quite good. Co-op play is a blast as well.

The couple of things I don't like about the game...

Just seeing the gun floating there, just doesn't seem right. Not hearing your footsteps or moving down stairs feels like sliding. Not being able to see your health in Story mode.

Minor things, and I have gotten used to them. All-in-all, a very nice game, I hear it is far better than the first (I never played it).

I've only played the demo thus far, but compared to the first it has better GFX (duh), much better story line, and better guns.

I only played TS1 for the multi-player map making

We played a little deathmatch last night with 6 bots, man the game is tough! And the bots, though maybe not the smartest things in the world, were just rockin' our asses.

Co-Op story mode has now hit an almost impassable part. Too many soldiers, not enough ammo!

Yeah, we figured that one out. My buddy snipes them whenever we can. Sometimes when you are in a fire-fight, you just don't have time to look for cameras.
