MS is evil, look at this.

http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/features/2002/jul02/0724palladiumwp.asp

and this

I'd advise a total boycot of all MS products if this goes active.

One thing, why is this in the Babylon project's forum? It has nothing to do with it at all.

Well, that there is bs, and I don't like it. MS can go bleep bleep bleep bleep off and take there bleepin secruity system with them. The one reason I don't run XP is the dam registration you have to do. They don't need it, it doesn't stop pirating at all. I've seen an illegal copy, with the registration removed, so what the bloody hell is the point? I mean, they treat us all like bleepin criminals. Bleep 'em.

Remember that Microsoft isn't a lawmaker...just a giant economic conglomerate. US lawmakers haven't been afraid to stand upto them the last time. I'm hopeful this will evolve in a semi-similar way.

I personally want to see Microsoft broken into two or more pieces. It was done in the telecom industry...why not here.

I'll also point out that telephone monopolies in the early days of telephones nearly destroyed the entire system before government regulation eliminated the monopolies and encouraged competition.

If the recording industry could buy congress, so can Bill Gates. Everyone outside the US is so freakin' lucky.

Ice: Breaking up MS would be pretty lame, just like the telecom breakup was rather ineffective.
Honestly.
Instead of a national monopoly, we have 7 (or however many "Baby Bells" there are) regional monopolies. It's not that much different.

Let's just say it didn't _quite_ work the way the Sherman anti-trust people hoped it would be. Then again, maybe they can do better next time.

One thing I do not want to see is MS broken into two, say, MS 1 and MS2 (gotta love unimaginative titles) and then both developing operating systems. Welcome to incompatibility hell.
So if they split, MS Hardware and games (and whatever) should split from OS development. That's the only way I see that working.

Then again, I'm not particularly sure I want them to break in half

And Palladium sucks it. I can't see them getting away with this without the DOJ going after them again (let's hope slightly more effectively this time).

This thing about Microsoft's internet VS the "other" internet is the part that really pisses me off. These guys were involved in the Internet from the start...they should freaking know what the Internet's purpose became after its military uses diminished.

The security we have is fine....we just need to train users and experts to be better at it.

Wow, this is pretty old news.
I've already discussed this at length at at least 3 other forums.
But if no one here knew about it then I guess it was worth posting.

If MS implements this bullsh!t I say we all smah our PC's, drop them on Bill Gates many many many doorsteps, and go MAC. It isn't to hard to get a MAC to run MS-based software, any of the newer ones will do it.

If you are MS employed and for this project, offense itended.
