Fs2 A.i.

Was anyone else disappointed by the FS2 A.I.? During "The Mystery of The Trinity" (I think that's waht it was called - it's the first nebula mission) I tried the level on every difficulty settting and the Shivans simply weren't aggressive. Even though I was slaughtered the dragon fighters didn't engage me directly. They just flew in circles. That's nowhere near agressive enough.

Does anyone aggree with me?

I wouldn`t base the Ai's intelligence on that mission. The Dragons have orders to attack the Trinity in preference to you.

Yeah, I think they have orders to ignore you also. Its a checkbox in FRED, I can't remember which one.

Oh yeah its "No Dynamic Goals". AI in Freespace2 is actually not bad if you play it above very easy. Lots of people complaining about ai are playing on very easy, or they are just really good.

Nothing wrong with the AI...

Try playing it on Hard. Then you'll appreciate it...

You checked both Wing and Ships within the wing. Because "No Dynamic Goals" can be clicked for both. In addition, attacking the Trinity may have been given top preference (a value of 89) on the Trinity and told to ignore Alpha wing.

This example of AI is not a good one to judge by because the mission designer was VERY SPECIFIC in the way that the AI was supposed to opperate. So infact, the AI did its job perfectly.

If anything, it completes a pattern of Shivan behavior that shows us how they are willing to sacrifice scores of fighters to take out a target at all costs.

Yep I checked. The no dynamic goals checkbox wasn`t ticked for any of the individual fighters or for Cancer wing.
