RF1 the hard way

Anyone tried the last section of Red Faction 1 without using the fighters from the hangar?

It's tougher, but much more rewarding, I can tell you.

yes idiot. but you get it before you start your little journey into the cannel thing. at the hangar just go into the control hut thungy and push da button and a fighter will be delivered to the pad next to the door you go through next. you can use it in the masko fight. it wont last long though.

The good news is that there are three fighters, so if you take too much damage en route you can abandon it and pick up a new one.

I definitely prefer it on foot though, the fighter makes things too easy and the best part is the warm, fuzzy feeling you get when you nail both of the fighters in the last room with a single Rail Driver round - that gun is incredible!

Yeah, I did that on foot once. Man, that was not easy. Thankfully you're at extremely long ranges so you can dodge those fusion rounds pretty easily.

Dodging rails is a little bit trickier

Pheew. I never knew you could get a fighter there. I guess I should try it the 'easy' way.

Except RF doesn't have 'levels' or autosaves. So I'd have to go through the entire game, again, to get to the last boss. No thanks.

U shoulda played it on Impossible mode. My 3 fighters were destroyed within the first 2 corners

I've noticed that impossible in Hive is much harder then impossible with the regular game. Regular game was ez, Hive is not.

I made it to the escape with Griphon section using pure baton. Lemme tell you that flying robot you fight before exiting the sleeping chambers for a miner in the beginning is tough
