I don't think they have been released anywhere...
They are available in the net... Look around and you might find them. Thought it is against copyright laws to keep them online for download...
Lucky me, got 'em on CD

Sharing episodes is technically illegal, but when internet is the only place you can actually get them, it really doesn't matter.

Of course, when the DVD:s come out, it's a different story.

I wonder if they are going to put the bloopers on those DVD:s?

I hope they will put bloopers on DVD

Hmmm Must have been sleeping for a hundred years. I dimly remember something called VHS which was a system by which you could watch episodes of babylon 5 on something called a video recorder.

I guess they must have all be instantaniously vapourised when this new thing called DVD appeared.

I have only seen 4 of those series VHS and posses 3 of 'em, so it is really hard to get 'em

There is a difference between hard to get and impossible to get though which was my point.
Remember that the more people who buy B5 stuff the more chance we have of getting more B5 stuff written by JMS. So if you can find it don`t be cheap, go out and buy it.

Thats in that vast grey area called personal use and so on and some such. When DVD-RAM or DVD-R's come out to replace your VCR....it'll be in that same category.

I guess the idea is that broadcast TV is never going to be quite as nice as buying the actual product.

If vhs recordings are legal (which they sort of are) then downloadable episodes are. Thats how I see it. Besides anything I get is for personal use.

Saying that I have downloaded almost all B5 episodes, which are quite good quality...but I can tell you, I will be one of the first to buy the boxsets on DVD as soon as they come out.

I only download episodes of programmes I like and want to see again that havent yet been released on DVD. Or if theyve been on tv and i want to watch them again at my leisure (same as recording them from video - hell actually they are worse quality than vhs generally). When they are out I will buy them and delete my downloaded collection.

Now wheres the harm in that? Of course some people try to make money from it, they are the ones that should be targetted.

Yeah, I know. But it backs up my statement about that copyright thing...

IIRC then it is legal to video record episodes/films/music from TV for temporary personal use. It is illegal to distribute these recordings or to sell them. It is also illegal to keep them beyond a certain length of time (i.e. keeping a permanent copy) but this part of the law is very hard to enforce. As Ice said it's a grey area and generally tolerated but distribution is not. I know somebody who has been caught and fined for distributing mp3 files which is basically the same situation as distributing avi files (don't forget that B5 episodes are available to purchase on VHS and soon on DVD) as you are breaking intellectual copyright law.

Personally I don't care about this too much and will pay for things I want permanently but not for those I use once and then delete. I'm just letting people know the legal side of it (as I see it) so people don't complain if they get caught (very unlikely).

You know, I seem to remember some industry - movie I suppose - suing because the VCR was just a pirate's dream, and all the recordings made are illegal, blah blah blah.

I think the law comes to this: If you make it yourself, taped from TV, that's legal. But distributing it in any way (well, I'm sure loaning your tape to your friend won't get you busted ) is illegal.

Grey area indeed.... sigh.

This is why I'm just going to buy the DVDs. And yes, $75 is an unfortunately huge pile of money, and not something I'm looking forward to...but think of it this way: 22 episodes, plus a two-part pilot. So let's say 24 episodes....$75, that's just over $3 per episode. To own, forever, in awesome DVD quality plus some commentary and stuff. Put it that way and it sounds super-awesome!
