-- The Big and Slow VS the Small and Fast (http://volitionwatch.papageorgefamily/vwbb/showthread.php?threadid=6986)
The Big and Slow VS the Small and Fast
BS: Big and Slow.
SF: Small and Fast.
AD: ADvantage.
WE: WEakness.
BS AD: Even inmobile, they can still defend themselves.
BS WE: If a sector is not in the line of fire of its turrets, he can't defend itself.
SF AD: Its velocity makes it a hard do to hit object.
SF WE: If inmobile, he is easily defeated due to its light armor/shield. It can defend itself only if its attacker is in front of him(In case of spacecraft).
BS AD: Even being slow, they are mobile after all.
BS WE: They are easy prey for blitz.
SF AD: They can blitz.
SF WE: They don't have a long range. They need to refuel once a while.
BS AD: They can be mobile gas stations.
BS AD: They can be captured.
SF AD: Is very difficult to capture a SF (specially because its difficult to destroy its engines without destroying the entire ship).
SF AD: They need more maintenance than the BS.
BS AD: They increase the morale of the nearby SF.
BS WE: When destroyed, the resulting explosion may damage the nearby SF.
Add more at will.

....Thank you.
Actually, these are good questions. It would be handier if they were together, though.

not to contradict your statements, but I'm more of a big-strong-ass-kicking ship type of person.
you know the kind that's like 1/2 the size of the colossus but still goes as fast as as dragon, and is decked out, to boot.

Small and fast ships rock in my opinion. They can engage multiple targets, split a larger ships defenses (not so much turrets perhaps, but unquestionably fighters) and they look cooler in battle

Personally I like to see both in action.
Putting a Hecate at long range with a wing of Deimos' and Aeoluses blasing in up close give a real sense of mayhem and destruction.

I enjoy replacing all of the demios' turrets with beam weapons and watch it take down a destroyer in seconds

WHat do you think about my statements?
Not to sound contradictory, but depending on the type of propulsion used, a larger ship should actually be FASTER than a smaller ship in space.
Besides which, you'll always need a good balance. Even if you resort to a TYPE of ship that's smaller, it'll end up growing in size to meet all the requirements that arise from having it being an alternative to a line ship...
