Mod compability
Hey all,
Excuse me if the following question is lame, but are campains & mods designed for Freespace 1 compatable with Freespace 2?
I'm wondering, because i'm planning on doing a mod/campain for FS1 (i haven't tracked down a copy of FS2 yet) and i would like it to work in FS2 aswell

Nope. They aren`t compatible but they are VERY similar so if you manage to get hold of a copy of FS2 later you could probably transfer your camapign over (Using Cut and Paste a lot) in a few days.

Or you could just wait until you get FS2. That's what I'd do.

Thx alot for the replies, much appriciated
I think i will already start with it, and adapt them as i go along, it shouldn't be that hard to track FS2 down (although the gameshop down the road looked at me with big cow eyes... "Freespace? is that a new game? we don't have it yet" *sigh*).
So this brings me to the next question, how does one get a planet (or planets) in the background?

It depends if you mean planet models or bitmap images.
Well, in Fred (1) you have a planet editor, but it seems to be doing nothing, but i remembered seeing planets in a campain, so i knew it was possible.
Turns out that the "Cardinal Spear" campain used models :-)
