What do they mean to "finally" get a decent mod to keep the game alive? I thought that was what Derelict etc did.

Not really. Derelict was cool for already in-FS2-community types, but I'd put money on TBP being the mod that really makes the news...and whatever ingenious things those cool source code programmers can do.

Barryworld filed for administration, but about 4 days before they were to be closed for good, the EB/GAME UK partnership stepped in and bought the lot... dirt cheap...

thats why Barrysworld is now so commercialised...
