Is Red Faction dying?

I've noticed that the amount of servers and players has drastically fallen. So is the general thought that Red Faction has run it's limits and if so what new game is taking up old Red Faction player's time?

I run a Clan server and used to get a bunch of people each day and now I've notice only 1 or 2 over a couple of days.

I see Counter Strike is still huge. What of this Soldier of Fortune II?

Thanks for your comments. Just deciding if we want to keep the server up or not.

WEBSITE NOW UP AND RUNNING!!!!!

I never really got into RF because I got crappy pings to internet servers from my dorm room. I'm playing hella Jedi Knight II though right now. It runs smooth as a cloud for some reason.

The number of active CTF servers dropped with something like 30% when the VBB closed, and like you said, the servers that stayed had less traffic. People left because they were disappointed with the lack of support from the developers/publishers. I think the number of servers has started to rise again the last few days, maybe ppl are returning?

YES RF is pretty much going to ****... but you got jedi kinght which is good and you got SOF coming out and morrow wind elder scrolls which will satisfy gamign needs for months

Dear god do we all have to drag this out, if you think its dead then leave it at that.....and if you still play it you will see there is still plenty of peeps online, I am on most nights and always get a great game with only a scattered ammount of cheaters cause there are about 5 or 6 dedicated cheat servers I think were most of them go to now.

the only thing that is dead are some of the people who were playing it. Still crying to V... they need to get over it and go on with life and realize that it really aint that big of a deal. Life goes on and so will rf! come on over and play a game or 40, who knows you might get addicted... its been known to happen.

Well there is still on average about 190 servers up. I still play lots.

The game play just isnt as addictive as say Counter-Strike, when im on a decent CS server, with decent ppl, its unbeatable, the team work, is just great, especacially with the microphones. The game has so much depth, you can use real life tactics to beat your enemy.

And red faction has .....well, none of those things, the weapons arent inpiring, the game play is to much like quake, when developers realise quake and doom have died, because DEATH MATCH IS CRAP, we want goal based team mulitplayer games.

I like the way how a game will come out, say UT2003, and the standard multiplayer will be thrown in the bin, when Countr-strike clone comes out for it. Why dont they just make the Counter-strike clone in the first place, and push the genre forward with their programing skills.

RF is a teamgame when u play TDM, especially in CWs
everyone who's saying that RF is the same than doom or quake, is stupid

RF is not dead!!
in germany we have many clans, clanwars, contacts and events.
and we have new clans that are founded after the statement of "V"

we'll playing RF1 as long as other clans are playing RF1.
and when RF2 is coming, then we'll playing it to oWn it like RF1
