Anyone do FreeSpace in 3D ???

When I picked up my Asus GForce2 video card it came with 3D glasses. I tried various games to see the effects, but nothing noteworthy happened until I fired up FreeSpace. Wow! Although the main hall was 3D, the first thing really noticed was the pre-mission briefing map which was a three D "holographic" image map of the briefing situation. Wow! 3D!

I never got back yet to doing the 3D adjustment and tweaking thing.

Anyway, just wondered: Anyone play FS in 3D ???

However, Interplay is not.

3D glasses work with FS? Cool! I have a GeForce 2 by nVidia. If I got any old jippo 3D glasses from a cereal packet would it work?

Afraid not F S W.

Certain GForce cards, like the one I have, provide output to set of Direct3D VR glasses which are plugged into the video card, in my case the Asus VR-100G stereo glasses. Then, by turning on and tweaking the advanced settings for the video card, a stereo image is projected onto the computer monitor, which is picked up by the glasses while you are wearing them, which is coordinated by the drivers between the monitor screen and the glasses via the plug-in cord. I think it coordinates which eye sees what image on the moniter. If you look at the computer monitor without the glasses on, it looks like a mess. The advanced setting provide for adjustments to custom set everything to your eyes.

Asus does have an addon option kit for the 3D glasses for video cards without a 3D glasses output socket.

you dont really need that great a 3d card for fs2, im using a 16bit and it works plenty well. Of course, more wouldnt hurt.

Yeah, I tried it. I didn't like it though - the HUD is positioned all wrong along the Z-axis, so it comes out screwy.
