Exclamation B5 Fighter combat screensaver

I've found a fantastic 3D screen saver that has a B5 Theme add-on. You've got to see it!

The screen saver is called Beam. Current release 1.63.

The trial allows a Deathmatch or Team Deathmatch setup.
There are 3 fighter types. For the B5 theme they are Star Fury, Thunderbolt and Nial.

The screen saver does not have any sound but does allow for music to be played when it is running. I have converted all the TBP battle wav files from Release 1, to mp3 and have Winamp play them. Beam will start winamp when it starts. Just make a playlist and play this. Its uncanny how often the music matches the action onscreen!

You can set it to run full screen - normal screensaver, or in a window. In a window is really cool with a big monitor as you can have Beam running while still doing stuff.

Don't just take my rave for it, check it out for yourselves. Here's where to get it: Bravo Interactive Group

Well, what are you waiting for?

WOAH

looks sweet

so basically a OpenGL screensaver, but instead of text or the windows logo *shudder* in a black background, you see ships flying around in space instead!

and it has customizable themes... gonna get it now

it looked super promising, but I have a PIII-500 with a TNT2 card, and with the lowest settings, its still a slide show ... and its only the trial version, the name of the company stays on the screen in HUGE text blocking everything...

There is a Babylon 5 theme, but whats the use, since its so slow and if you change settings, it crashes half the time... ofcourse that might be because I have windows XP, and their standard shipset, is such a rip off of B5 too...

there is no apperent way to change settings... you have to play with it to discover that they are actually pull-down menus... took me an hour

Londo, sorry to hear that you have not had a good experience with the program. I am only running the Trial version, on WinXP and I don't get any of the things you mention. I am using a Geforce 256 card so that might be the difference.

damn punk kids and their high-end video cards...

yeah, my card is old, doesnt support T&L, and is considerably slower than the Geforce256, not to mention the Geforce 2 and 3s
