Hiya. Fighter beams (yes again)
Hi. I know this topic has been beaten to death, exumed, revived, and beaten to death again more times than we all can count, but I was just playing around in the tables and I didn't have any problem making the targeting laser do damage, wait to recharge, consume power, or be green. It's actually a pretty viable weapon and it you leave the "miss" percentage alone (it's 0 default) it makes a killer sniper weapon.
Now, I KNOW what the mod team will say. "That's just not the direction were going in" as I have heard them say numerous times before. On the other hand I haven't been around in a long time, maybe this has already been addresed, and realease two will have real fighter beams. I could do a search on the topic but I would still be reading posts next week; as I said this has been discussed alot.
The only thing I haven't figured out is how to move the weapons firing location, of course I haven't figured that out for any of the weapons, it's probably a ship characteristic rather than a weapon characteristic.
Sorry I've been away so long. I don't really have an excuse except to say I've been busy. I'm a working stiff now and between that and my 2 year old daughter I don't have a whole lot of free time.
BTW, Im currently working on special effects for a film with loose ties to MGM (the studio). I'll keep you posted as I become free to discuss things. Take it easy you guys.
Oh, and I have Maya now, I would be happy to redo the race anims I made in Bryce for you. To be honest I was never really happy with them.

And if AI doesn't use it, I don't really care how good it is.

Hey Fuzzy Modem, are you the one who was making the all cg film called mornigstar? I believe the link was http://freya.dcc.uaf.edu/morningstar/current.html but it seems to be down right now. Did you ever finish it?
Yeah, I am/was working on a short film called morningstar. Everything is finished exept the rendering but things are stalling out a bit in that department. We are having alot of problems rendering our more complex scenes on the SGIs. There is a finished 7 minute preview that we should probably have online soon, a friend of mine is building a server and once he's done the site will go back up with the preview.
