Massive Freespace 2 Problem

Compaq 4090US
Windows XP Professional
900MHz AMD Duron
384MB RAM
SoundMAX Integrated Digital (IRQ 10)
GeForce 4 MX 440
Philips CDD4801 CD-R/RW 8X
Microsoft Intellimouse v4.01
25.2GB UltraDMA Hard Drive (3.71GB currently available)
Freespace 2 (v1.2) closes itself after I type in my pilot's name and press enter.

I tried using someone else's pilot file, cloning it, then making it into a multiplayer pilot, then re-making it into a single player pilot (to erase its stats and stuff), but the game still shuts itself down whenever I try to view all available campaigns or when I select the mission simulator in the tech room. And in case it matters, I have the game of the year edition, and I've been able to complete the training and two missions with no problems.

The following are the first two lines of the error log:

FS2 caused an Integer Divide by Zero in module FS2.exe at 001b:0057014e.
Exception handler called in Freespace 2 Main Thread.

Interplay suppport has so far been incredibly unhelpful. They've sent me two automated responses (one of which told me to patch my game to v1.1) so far and I've been waiting for my third response for a very long while now.

The folks over at the Hard Light Productions forums have not been able to figure out what's wrong. Eleven of them think I should cry (4 of them will cry with me) and seven of them think I should just start physically hurting other people.

Unless Microsoft released some new patches or drivers or something after last friday, all of my software is up to date (I have no net connection for my computer at home). Shutting down all other programs and "services" doesn't help at all; neither does defraging my hard drive. I've completely uninstalled and reinstalled it several times already and that hasn't helped. Right clicking on the FS2.exe file (no, I didn't do this to the launcher, so don't ask) and messing with that compatibility stuff for other versions of Windows doesn't work either.

Run outside with a hammer and kill someone then.
The truth about Interplay is that they don't care about anything except your wallet. You can forget about their support.

Yeah, Kazan is probably right. Try starting a new file and see if that works. If not, come back and ask for more help.
