Medal of Honor - A cruel programming joke

Could someone tell me what it is that makes this game so unfriggin' believably slow!?!?!?!?!?
I have a p 2 450 mhz, Geforce 2 mx 256 sdram, soundblaster audigy, 1 gig free and i installed the game on a defragmented harddrive.
But the game is unplayable at everything at minimum! And i mean at the LOWEST! 512*384 16 bit!!! I'm at the level after you get to pilot the tank and i just uninstalled the darn thing because i can't get anywhere because the game is so slow! 10 fps at most (and that's when i'm looking at a corner with NO enemies on screen...).
Hmm... I can play Wolfenstein and all other quake 3 engine games just fine, why would this heap of crap be so much slower?
Did the programmers make it this slow on purpose and are now laughing their asses off while i watch this slideshow?
I orderd a new computer in december and was supposed to get it in January, but just recently i recieved all parts but the computer itself... I just can't believe my luck and this can only be the work of that evil guy downstairs... Man is he having fun right now...

ahhah jup im laughing my ass of i think it is the 450 mhz that is holding jou back *cough*LOL*cough*

yes and try at higher some games like FS2 sometimes like higher grabh but dont go too high 1024 16 bit should do it

If i play the game in 1600*1200 the framerate is largely the same as 512*384 so of course it's the 450 mhz holding me back!
But the system requirerments are at 450 so i should be able to play the game!
Heck, the game looks like quake 2 right now, if not worse, and i can play Wolfenstein at playable frames with everything at max exept for the textures at 800*600 32 bit...

Have you updated MOHAA? There might be some bugs.
And try changing your video card adapters, try latest official drivers. (nvidia.com)

First uninstall your current drivers, reboot and install new ones.

Also, there might be something else that MOHAA does not like. Have you tried to shut down all background programs, even virus scanner?

Also, it could be your Audigy... It DOES have buggy drivers, it's a new card anyways. Go to soundblaster.com and grab latest drivers if you haven't already.

I already have the newest drivers for everything and nothing running in the background...
The newest patch sucks, the game stops working when i patch the game... It's just a grey screen when i start it...

I have a P500 with 256RAM and a TNT2 Ultra(!), and in MOHAA I get 20-30 fps on 640x480 resolution, so It's not likely a problem with your computer being too slow.

This definately isn't a computer too slow problem. You're at the minimum specs, but you shouldn't be getting performance that is that rock bottom. Sounds like a driver/memory issue to me. What version of Windows are you running?

I'm using the first edition of Win 98 patched all the way with that Windows update thingy.
And at the time of writing i'm using the Asus 27.42 drivers for my GeForce 2 mx.
The patch for Medal Of Honor is supposed to fix some memory leaks, maybe it fixes these horrible framerates? But the patch doesn't work for me... I went crazy trying to get the game to work with the patch, i reinstalled ALL hardware but with no effect!

Posted by IceFire on 03-31-2002 06:43 PM:

Yeah, sounds like a memory leak...but you say the patch doesn't work. Ask around on a forum for that game and see what they say.

Does the full version of MOH:AA come with that Auto-configure script that the demo did? If it does then run it. On my machine, which is probably as far below the minimum spec as its possible to go (PII 400 @496, 128Mb RAM, Riva TNT1) I could not get decent (to me) framerate out the MOH:AA demo no matter how low I set the setting. I run the auto configre script and it works fine.

I've tried the auto configure thingy and it sets all details to lowest and the res to 640*480 16 bit... No performance gain at all...

The minimum is just what they say you'll need at the least. They're of course wrong as hell.

The lower the system requirements, the more people that can buy the game. It's all a conspiracy to get you to upgrade your processor. Of course, depending on what Mobo you use, you could probably upgrade that proc for around what you paid for that game.

I played MOH:AA with a AMD Athlon XP 1800+ (1.54 GHZ) and it still skiped, but it was mainly due to my crappy video card. I want to get a GForce 4 ti but there so damn expensive.

Posted by Plasma on 04-12-2002 02:27 AM:

MOHAA runs liquid smooth at 1024x768 on a Radeon 7500, but it still "burps" quite a bit since the game keeps pulling crap off my suck-tastic hard drive (A clunky old IBM 5400 RPM thingy. Icky.)

College books or new hard drive? Decisions, decisions...

LOL, get the hard drive, who need college books
