Question LotRangers Q

ok i know there are 5 sessions of b5 one session of crusade, and like 6 movies now. my question is "how come Legend of the Rangers had a epsisode name "to live and die in starlight" (or i think that its like an eps. name)if it was just a tv movie? is this perhasps a prelude to a new session? hmmmmmmm?

Posted by Xaphod_x on 01-25-2002 05:20 AM:

I believe the idea is that they make a new season if the tv-movie is sucessful enough.

Unhappy

I guess that while most people thought the movie was of good quality, it didn't do so well with ratings. According to Dylan Neal, the guy that plays the lead Ranger in the movie, the number of people who tuned in wasn't nearly as high as they would've liked (b5lr.com). I didn't help that the best football game of the season was on at the same time.

I was under the impression that the ratings had not yet come back.

Correction on terms.

Babylon 5 had 5 SEASONS under the guise of one SERIES. B5: LOTR has the potential to be a new SERIES.

Posted by Slasher on 01-26-2002 07:33 PM:

The ratings for the West Coast, where the game was over by the time LOTR showed, were much higher than on the East Coast, so I would by no means rule out a series. The audience is obviously there.

And, no, the ratings have not been officially released, but some people over at b5lr have been rather intense in their snooping around so Neal stopped by and confirmed their suspicions that the football game had killed them.

Its more like rugby, but without the toughness(they all wear those oversized armoured suits).

Just because we're SMART enough to wear armor when we go out and play OUR brand of footy...... And if you even THINK about turning this into a soccer vs. Grid iron (American) football, I'll wage war on your country! (Spoken like a true soccer fan.)

Soccer, the only sport where you can opt to wage war over a bad ref call.

You can bash our teeny boppers, obese Americans, and SciFi privleges all you want, but don't diss our football, okay?

Posted by ShadowBoy on 01-27-2002 05:24 AM:

I'm sorry, I will go so far as to call rugby and aussie rules 'Football" But soccer is soccer. Not football. Granted soccer's a reasonably cool game and all, but there's something WRONG with a country going to war over a silly sports game, just as there is something wrong with one man killing another over a childrens hockey game.

Sports are just that, games. It woud be along the lines of getting fragged at a LAN party, then jumping on top of the table, and pounding the guy across from you with your chair just because you think he cheated.

Sports fans are the single most downright frightening crowds of them all. their team wins; they go riot, rape, loot, and pillage. Their team loses, same result. A ref makes a bad call, from their point of view, same net result. Or worse, they decide that a bunch of em, with guns n' knives, n' stuff, are gonna invade the opposing team's country, and TAKE the trophy.

Yup, I don't see many football fans gutting each other for a trophy. And I'm pretty sure Wisconsin never bombed Dallas back in '96 either.

What have I started

I'm a Soccer Referee BTW, and yes, it does seem like wars get waged depending on your call.

I went a local match not too long ago, and I do distinctively remember the ref copping quite a lot from the "annoyed" home-side fans when we lost.

I believe the chant was something along the lines of "the referee's a w****r".

Never let it be said that the English don't take football seriously... you may live to regret it.

As far as Rugby vs. American football; I personally prefer American football, but then that's probably something to do with all those years at school being made to play Rugby in the pooring rain.

Yeah I take some heat from time to time. Its nerve-wracking for me but I'm slowly learning to deal with it. Most of the time its just little kinds and they have zero right to think its a FIFA game so I'm going to try and ignore them.

Did anyone see the movie on Kazaa yet? Dutch television didn't air any of the movies, so it's not likely thet LOTR will be aired here...

Thumbs down

Throw in a tape of power rangers and you have yourself at least apart of the show.

Utter trash. When you watch it you'll see what I mean.

Since everything with B5 was lost, they also resorted to using old ST ships as well.

There is alot of work in my opinion that needs to be done, alot of junk removed and some other things tweaked for this to be an excellent show, so there's always hope. But powerranger part was really the nail for me.
