Vasudan Speech

I have a question for you all, that pertains to the demo and the whole of BWO, really. Basically, I was wondering what everyone thought the Vasudans should speak like. We all know how they sound, but I'm actually referring to their choice of words, syntax, and so on.

Of course, I could take the cue of Admiral Khafre and the Vasudan characters in the main FS2 campaign, and mimic them.

Alternatively, I could have no difference in speech between Terrans and Vasudans, other than expressions and the like (is his any different to the previous option?).

Finally, I could actually do something to make the launguage used different - for example, at the moment I'm experimenting with removing various pronouns, so there's no I, we, you and so on in Command briefings. This can all be explained due to the caste system that Vasudans have, and the varying ways their language works according to it and the galactic position in relation to the Emperor, and so on.

Comments, anyone?

Lemme see....

Vasudans are very caste concious, so they probably choose their words very carefully.... they are used to this, so they probably wouldn't take as long as a Terran in wording their (dipplomatic) replies.

They probably look down slightly on some Terrans (the 'lower' pilots, probably) depending on rank. I suppose it's pretty important to try and figure out whether caste has an effect on military career - it could lead to a few bitter pilots.

So, er, pretty snooty some of them... maybe have an annoying Admiral-type character who looks down on the Terrans.

Well the translator would add words such as I,you etc when making the translation so terrans can understand perfectly.

I think that (at least) some Vasudans see themselves as more superior than terrans. In the mission to destroy the Knossos one of the vasudan pilots had doubts that the Meson Bomb could destroy the portal as it was a "terran" weapon.

ah but it did destroy the portal, so Terrans are better than Vasudans! Roll on the second TV War.

Yup, both sides made it. Just like both sides made the Interceptor, Ulysses, Myrmidon, shields adapted to Terran/Vasudan ships and a number of other crafts and technologies.

In FS2 there is no real difference with Vasudan grammar, syntax etc. I took a close look at it a while back.

The translators probably handle much of the variations due to time, position from the emporer, etc. but most Vasudan pilots would look down on Terrans due to their inability to handle "The Conversation."

Now Vasudan expressions would be pretty different...

Okay, I'll just write Vasudan speech in the same manner as Terrans would speak. Doesn't mean that they'll say the same things, though...

As far as expressions go, I don't even know where to begin, other than taking a Terran expression and putting a Vasudan word in it, which seems lame.

Actually I'd use that line as a Terran in Blackwater mocking a Vasudan after some hub-bub about Vasudan spacecraft being a "true artform" etc. etc.

Precisely my point, Ace. By modifying human expressions to Vasudan form, it seems like parody. You'd have to create some entirely new expresions, and that's not easy.

Vasudan (translated) speech would not have any contractions. That is 'I have destroyed your target' would be (to me) a correct translations whereas 'I've destroyed your target' would not be.

Have the Terran call the 'Zog craft a 'Hangar Queen'. They just look like they'd need a lot of maintenance.

Vasudan ships are not artform their engineering comedy. Honestly the first time i looked at a that dodgy Tyfoon ship i laughed so hard. How it suppose to be a capable warship i didnt know, until it blasted the most of the 3rd fleet i think and knocked out our Flagship.

I would see the Vasudans use a lot of desert analogies, just like sailors use a lot of sea analogies.
