A Ravana a Demon, any Destroyer class vessel will go down with a single shot. The recharge time for a shot such power is fairly long however.

In a couple of missions the beam is operating at mostly full power and it takes out a destroyer and several other large vessels. The more the beam is used, the more risk is placed on the ship for a catastrophic overload. Its definately not like other beams where they can just keep firing them. Sure you can fire a bunch of times at full power, but you're going to have some serious problems the more you keep doing it.

best Just to act in a more supportive role, with 50% power shots adding significantly to the carnage or using Golgothas in pairs to take down ships.

The ship is designed to take out juggernaught class vessels, but not combat them. Thats the idea.

The Meson Cannon can open up a doublewide buttload of kung-fu grip, ass-whuppin' action on the whatever happens to be downrange.

If the Hull ratings I found a freespace.vw are correct.

SD-Demon Hull 10000
SD-Ravana Hull 12000

Dont quote me on that, its near enough..

SJ-Sathanes Hull 100000

So its 10x the hull.

So am I right the Golgotha overkills Destroyers like 2k damges, and five full power shots to take down a SJ on its own?

It's a lot of damage.... and the yield is in fact variable.

Since it can only use its whoopass cannon on things in front of it, how fast can it turn. If it gets ambushed from the side or behind by something BIG will it just jump out or try to fight?
