Interceptors
I know that the Omega/Nova hull and the Hyperion hull (amongst other EA ship types) are mounted with interceptors. I'm not sure that I have ever seen them fire from a defined point in the show. If anybody does know where they are mounted then could they please point this out on a diagram or an accurate description?

From what I can remember, Interceptors appear from the side of Omega/Nova vessels. As for Hyperions, they may be in a similar location as the Victory Destroyers.
Other than that I've no idea.

Interceptors are not fired from dedicated turrents they fire from existing turrents, so most turrents can fire as an interceptor.
If you look at AoG's B5Wars then it shows most EA ships having dedicated interceptors (six on Omega/Nova and two on Hyperion, etc.) as well as being able to fire many of their non-laser based weapons in interceptor mode. I was just wondering exactly where on these ships are they mounted?

If you look on the 'B5 Tech Manual' or 'The Place to Be' websites, they should detail the exact specifications, as well as show where the turrets are on each vessel.

well
if you look at the omegas cannons, you can see that next to the main barrel is a smaller gun, my guess is interceptors fire from that one.

According to what I can see, on the Omega there are two pods on either side of the nose. Each pod contains one Heavy laser cannon/Pulse cannon and one interceptor. There are 12 pods situated on the hull, each of which housing a Particle beam. On the rear there are four hard points, two of which are Heavy lasers and two are interceptors (according to AoG plus my watching the show, there are only two aft facing Heavy lasers, not four). There are also supposed to be two interceptors somewhere on the main part of the Omega's hull.
As for the disposition of the weapons on the Hyperion, the model in TBP is pretty accurate except for a lack of interceptors (not that I can see them myself but they are there) - they are even mentioned as being down in 'Severed Dreams'. Admittedly the interceptors may be a more recent addition to the Midwinter class but ..... where are they? [frustrated sigh]

"turrets" please...no turrents....turrents is not a word
Interceptors and the like don't particularly work for our MOD so...this is how the Omega is setup.
2 Heavy Pulse Cannons and 2 Particle Lasers (fore)
4 Heavy Pulse Cannons and 4 Particle Lasers (aft)
12 Point Defense Turrets (Light Pulse weapons with short range and high rate of fire)

Thanks that does explain the situation somewhat, and yes it seems that any non-laser weapon (i.e. The emission has mass) at least has the potential to intercept incoming non-laser weapons.

Maybe those rear guns should't be "heavy", or they should be less effective than the forward guns. It's stupid to have a ship which has more firepower behind it than it front of it.
IceFire seems fine, except when I have played games with four aft Omega weapons and two fore then people just set the Omega with its rear facing the enemy. Will there be some rate of fire trade-off involved to balance this or what?
BTW B5W's solution to just remove some of the rear guns is probably a worse way of making the ship playable for a simulation like TBP (even though it works for the board game).

Blah Blah...
Interceptr don't work in FS2 /...maybe it could be working..byt some triks...making the bolts missile with trails and flagged "bomb" and actual interceptor as normal guns...
But until someone do it right ..we have no interceptor..
yes the omega is most Stupid armed ship...I mean no one ever saw these supposed 4 guns firring..
..hell EA is a fleet of cowards ...firring and showing the tails...
But I presume that is some confusion here..the4 amplacements are most likelly 2 laser and 2 heavy pulse NOT sharing the same site like the forward array

I wouldn't even begin to expect the TBP team to try to implement interceptor firing (the work that would be involved - horrible, just horrible). the two laser, two pulse cannon approach may be viable - damn it there just isn't enough information on the show as to the reasons for the armaments (nor what they actually are).

Yeah...whatever the name of the ship was opened fire with 4 heavy pulse weapons at the StarFuries trying to attack from the rear.
It could be possible. The beams could be the lighter Particle weapons used on the Midwinter. That would balance.
We'll have to see what the model turns out like and then work to balance.
