Golgotha polycount?

Just curious as to what the polycount on the Golgotha is at.

I don't know the exact polycount, but I'm willing to wager that it isn't as high as some people would think. Whenever I have it loaded into a mission, I don't notice any slowdowns like I do when a ship like the Colossus is in it. I'd say that it has a slightly higher count than an Orion or a Hecate.

Guess that would make it likely in the 1500 - 1800 range, then.

I don't see to many 2 part turrets on the model (based on what I remember), so that would help reduce the count.

The Golgotha is 1971 polys. Don't let the number confuse you, this model runs extremely fast on both my PII 233 and my PIII 733. There isn't the slowdown associated with the Colossus. Probably has to do with fill rates.

In any case, it looks great

Cool - sounds like whoever modeled it was as poly-conscious as I am.

What's the range on the Big G's main gun, anyways?

You should get the slowdown fix mod its not the Colossus, its how menny other ships are in the mission.

the model Dark gave me was nearly 3000, and had no LODs, no debris, and no Turrets (well it had one). it took me quite a while to lower the count to an accseptable level not to mention all the LODs and all that other fun stuff, not that I'm takeing credit for it Dark did do the most important part of making most of the LOD0 geomery and UV space, but I did do almost all the grunt work.

And we thank you both.

Dark has made some exceptional models, but Bobboau has done some serious work on them to make them acceptably playable.

Oh, and because the GG's main gun is a beam, it has, if you s-exp it, a potentially unlimited range. As regards reality though, the Golgotha's main cannon has a range greater than a BGreen, but less than a Sathanas BFRed. I think. I'd have to look it up.

Yes this is true. Bobboau has done the lion share of the MOD work on this project of ours.

He added all of the turrets on the Golgotha, made the spinny thing spin in a certain way, and added some great stuff.

I'm sure you'll all be praising Bobboau when we get to showing off his models. And he's done alot of them. The Ceres is only the beginning

Yeah, hurry up with that... it's not like me or Venom have ever been shy in posting models ... and we're probably the most prolific at the mo.

We've got a bit of a different mandate around here. Some ships we don't want you to see until you see them in the missions.

We've been very careful at revealing what we want you to know. You'll thank us for not spoiling the whole plot right from the begining

What, 20+ ships (presonally) in 2 and a half months?..... not a bad rate IMHO.

But i geuss BWO is kind of fortunate in that you have a lot of the legends working, so you don't need to do as much to get noticed..... or maybe it's just me getting frustrated at my hitcounter on the site :P

I've had a look at Reciprocity before, and Venom's stuff. It's all very impressive, if you ask me. I'm sure that people will notice the models (surely the best way to grab anyone's attention) and if you can do some good missions too, it'll be a success.

Yeah... We're actually trying to do a kick-ass job on DoE just to make it so we aren't forgotten by the time BWO rolls off the assembly lines...

Makin' it hard, I say... But we have a few tricks up our sleeves... Or atleast I thought we did...

Well in the face of Derelict and Warzone, campaigns like the Aeos Affair still remained popular and continue to do so. Aeos Affair perhaps wasn't the epic story of Derelict, but it had action up the wazoo and it was very well done that way. Warzone was my personal creation and I figure it sort of fit in the middle.

We've taken alot of heat for being the "big campaign" on the block sort of thing. Attracting all of the attention and whatnot. We just announced our campaign. We aren't trying to steal anyones fame or anything of the sort.

I'm sure the good campaigns will get the credit and recognition that they deserve.
