Who can convert some of my models?

I have two models of B5:The starfury and the EA Omega build in 3D Studio and complete with textures but since i cannot find an easy tool to apply weapons, engines etc.,FSMM2 is quite difficult,i was wondering whether someone could do the above for me.

Antony this isnt going to happen

i can tell by what you have written, you simply have no idea whats involved, bah! newbies

why do you need a star fury anyway - we made that in our mod and omega will be in the next version , i had a beta version omega by haderak anyway, it was lovely apart from the texture corruption

Waiit a minute lets not rush things here...its do-able it depends on poly number and subobject hirarky. I have a long experience in doing crazyness like this. Antony show us your stuff its very possible your work can be much better tha mine. I sort of did macgyver like textures for those OMEGA's trials.
If the body is all a single object you can kiss it goodby though.
make sure turrets rotation section and other small objects arent glued together. And the model mustnt be a multi-thousand polys either. if you wish You can send it over to my mail to see if its viable.

Your forgetting model stability. The model has to be built a very certain way (a way which I have no knowledge of) for it to work in FreeSpace 2.

We've already got a nearly finished Omega model and all of our StarFury varients are mesh complete. The Aurora is obviously finished and the Thunderbolt and Badger are being textured.

yes I now that. Its not that I whant one omega for myself errr.. hummm humm cof cof
No really you never should let a potential asset apear and go away again. I always look forward towards potential help to accelarate things. who said no one could do better? keep your mind open
Besides that I have 'my' Omega trial working anyway.

First of all about what CptWhite said:Ok friend listen i am moding games for quite some time and let me tell you that i have already moded the game Starlancer and added several models i have made including the Thunderbolt.Let me tell you though that in Starlancer the tools i had where much better than the ones for Freespace 2.Not that i want to offend the programmers that built them since they obviously put quite an effort to them but the tools of Starlancer are better. So when i asked for help was because for the time being i am trying to built a game, thats secret, and i dont have the time to learn everything about how to mod this particular the game.If i had the time believe me i wouldnt ask for any help.
Now for the pics that some asked.I could send some pics to those that are interested but after the "warm and fuzzy welcome" my proposition had i not that thrilled in doing so.

try not tot ake offense - but i haven't modded for any other game but freepsace but from what i understand icefire is right - getting models to work in freespace is more diffiuclt than most games so they might not be compatable meshes - that said it would be interesting to see them since they might be great and work perfectly but the other point is that if you want the aurora well its already done for freespace and the omega will be along with the enxt release.

as for the tools get kazans pcs and modelview instead of fsmm2 then you'll find thigns much easier - certainly at that alot of people will be able to help and infact i have a tutorial for putting turrets on things but its aimed more for truespace but if you got the hierachy right then the second part will aplly just the same

well Antony, sorry that you didn't get a warm welcome from Cpt White but most people don't get anything nice from him. Guess he's either too stressed or an egomaniac who doesn't care about others opinions. Anyways, Cpt White, chill out

from how i understand it... he's got a lot of college stuff going on. I know I would be stressed a bit

Give us University students a break. Were underpayed (har!) and overworked

Our Omega model is pretty much finished. Et1 is just working over the details. The Aurora is already in the game, and so why replicate efforts.

Antony, I will agree with you, the editors for StarLancer are in general much better and easier to use. FreeSpace's tools are a little more difficult, but the overall customizability of FreeSpace 2 outweighs the disadvantages.

Typically when someone has come to us with models, and trust us this has happened many times, they are in thousands of polys, they are unstable in FreeSpace 2, and they just don't work for us. So hopefully you'll understand our outright dismissal of most of the people that offer such things. We've had really bad experiences in the past.

ok, I'm just a high schooler so I have no idea about college life yet, hehe. But anyways, Omega almost done? When do we get to see some screenies, or better yet, a release? Hehe, wishful thinking for now but like everything else so far, it'll be well worth the wait!!

Posted by Drahkas on 10-20-2001 03:45 AM:

there was a nice screenie on the last site

You forgot im also a moderator, maybe you should think about that before insulting me out right again.

My comments to antony were tongue in cheek, faces are used to put across the intent of the writting in my posts, read it again both of you.

Also antony is a newbie to freespace 2 modding, so i was correct.

Finally i say many nice things to people wo have done exceptional work, hey i have high standards, and an honest opinion, if you dont like this then tough frankly.

im not a nasty person though and i dont like the tone of your post ivanenski......

I'm not saying antonys model is better or will be used in the MOD I sugested him to show his work to check out his abilities.
That sugestion is still valid. Dismissing him without seing his potential would be a mistake.

SOOO Antony post pics!! At least I'm one interested guy.

Boy, you couldn't cut the tension in this post with a 4 megawatt pulse cannon

Speaking as a person who wants to help but has no skills what so ever I just try to throw a few ideas into the mix now and then and stay out of the way the rest of the time...

Posted by ivanenski on 10-21-2001 02:52 AM:

hehe, I dunno if a fusion beam could do it, but it is interesting none the less

Posted by ivanenski on 10-21-2001 02:54 AM:

oh, and hopefully Anthony wasn't scared off, quite a few people here want to see his Omega
