ICQ me

Team members who previously had me on ICQ, please ICQ me again. I just got a new laptop and I'm trying to keep my contacts from my desktop.

You know you can transfer your contact list from the desktop to the laptop without having to reauth everyone don't you? Just do search on your ICQ number and use [url=http://www.rarsoft.com/welcome.htm]WinRAR[/url] to back up the files (maintaining complete paths) straight from the search window. This is what I did when I upgraded to Windows XP and although I think I had to reinstall ICQ afterwards (it tends to be finnicky about modifications to its directory but rarely anything more than a reinstall can't fix) it worked fine.

So just reuse any file, in the correct path, that has my ICQ# as the filename?

Doncha guys love that AOL doesn't support ICQ worth a crap since they bought Mirabilis? AIM sucks by comparison.

ive formatted on a number of occasions since having icq , i have version 2000b so in my icq folder there is a folder of that name "2000b", this is new of every version i believe , now im not sure about installing from one version to a new version of icq , but if your using the same version of icq simply copy the files in this folder with the name of the version number to the folder on your laptop and your contacts and histroy conversions will all be there

from older-to-newer you use "dbconvert"
