I just saw at the FDL that Heiko Herrmann of the Descent Network has released the second beta of his extremely awesome Descent Manager tool, VPView. Heiko describes more below:

While Beta 01 primary demonstrated the new fast engine and its new technology, Beta 02 concentrates on bringing back the stuff that VPVIEW32 1.x made so great and effective to use. All the little things and features that are at least as much as important as a high performance, because it offers the user the possibility to do things that he wants to do with as little mouse clicks as possible.

Here's some of the kewl new features he planted into it.

Implemented options dialog with most important stuff to set up.

Extract to FreeSpace data directory option.

Launch associated application with a selected file.

Improved user-interface.

New "All files" directory.
