Another note to voice actors

We have received some samples, who are clear, but kinda....let's say boring!

Please, if you record, imagine you are in war. You must be excited, maybe afraif of enemy contacts, but you may not be BORING!!!

Please be aware of that, when you record your samples!

Thank you...

Here is a sample how you should try to speak:

It is just an example, you don't need to sound like the guy in this wave. This only represents a non-boring wave!

Alright, that is it. I am redoing mine. I'll hopefully do it in the AM tomorrow and send it off. I'll have my wife start firing energy cannon next to my ear so I'll be in the right mood. Anybody have a spare jump drive so I can really get into it?

Well what about either emailing those people you think should re-record, or else posting a list on the forum of whose samples are ok and whose aren't.

Ok, so I'll probably die of embarrasment if my name's up there (and having heard the "correct-speech" sample, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was), but I'd rather know it needed improving.

I want this mod to be good, too and if that means everyone knowing that my recordings weren't good enough, then so be it.

(What the hell.... I'm gonna re-record my part anyway, just in case it does need redoing.)

Red face

Hey! I've just listened to what the guy in the correct speech sample ACTUALLY says!!!! So much for MY role in the mod.

Oh well, guess that means I won't be making any more guess appearances

...oh wicked thought! I hope it had nothing to do with the sample I sent in. (Erk!)

That guy in the "correct speech" sound like some sort of speech synthesizer. It is very cold, no emotions whatsoever. Are you guys sure you want your pilots to sound like this? Then download Microsoft Speech Developer Kit 5.0 and record as many sounds you want

cheers!
Henrik

Slightly embarrassd to fess up but that's one of my lines for the EAS Washington.

As for sounding "synthetic", If I have to defend my voice acting, fine. That character is the captain of a EAS cap ship that is in deep deep trouble and is trying to bark out an order as quickly as possible. That simple.

And, unfortunately, I've noticed that a little bit of the emphasis seems to be lost in saving in ADPCM 4Hz. In the original recording, there was a bit more desperation in the "all pilots [and so forth]" section.

Anyway, that particular recording is a somewhat bad example as it doesn't really have much emotion, yes. The Alpha2 lines have quite a bit more. Black Sheep, if you have to martyr me... er... use me as an example, you might want to use a recording that carries a bit more emotion. Maybe alpha2-allclear?

Jesus, this was just an example!

I only want the voice actors not to sound boring in the sample. About Sleight42, I already got all of his samples and he can show emotions, believe me!

Oh...and...most times I cannot tell, which person got which part. Skullar has the voice actor list, not me!

I only say Skullar, which samples need rerecordings. If you have uploaded your samples to Seether's FTP and haven't been contacted again for rerecordings, then you have probably done good work!

Not every person falls in panic, when the enemy arrives. Consider him as a "cool" captain.
