Freespace in need of civilian craft

I think that Freespace has some of the coolest ships ever deigned, but the majority of the ones you see are mostly military craft. You have to improvise by sticking military transports in and calling them "older models" or "civilian versions". Freespace is in desparate need of more strictly civilian vessels.

We don't know. In the last month...I think we've added...umm....somewhere between 5-8 models and potential models.

Some are vitally important to the missions we've setup (the Charon for instance) and the rest improve the look, feel, and quality of the MOD. There are redesigns of some older vessels that Sol will be using, but thats not to say that they don't have a few new ships available as well.

Oh yes...

I think that the current count is 27 ships, including those that are from FS1, Sol vessels and those which have appeared elsewhere (such as, for example, the Saphah-class frigate seen in Derelict).

All of this however is near-certain to change in the intervening time between now and release.

Derelict? Does that mean we get the Hydra, too?

Posted by IceFire on 09-06-2001 02:46 AM:

No. Hydra was basically designed to get you through the last set of Derelict missions....we're writing it out.

Angry Source

So I see why the source would be handy, if you had source access youd be able to keep all the old FS2 ships and add new ones. No ones ever identified which file is responcible for putting this limit on Fs2 then?

All the unecessary comments, which reduces the size of the ships.tbl by over 25%.

It would probably be a bit harder than changing one line of one file. After all it is likely that the designers decided to limited the table sizes on perpose? Of course I could be wrong, and often am.

That reminds me, how come the two ships created for Derilict have no tbl files?
