The one with the hyperion is in-game but all of the orion pics are rendered....(I think)

Posted by IceFire on 08-22-2001 03:32 AM:

The first one is from the game. Taken at 1024x768 and resized down no-doubt. It'd also look that good if you turn on FSAA. But I've never tried that with FS2.

The rest are screen captures from Truespace. Thus the interface

If we're talking of what it takes to make the most of FS2, then I'd like to volunteer my services (rather cheekily).

1.6Ghz AMD Athlon Thunderbird (266fsb)
256Mb DDR RAM
Hercules Prophet III 64Mb DDR

Do you know what that gives you?

It gives you FS2 at 1024x, with 32-bit colouring, along with the advanced texturing from the new Geforce 3, with 4x FSAA (or Quincunx - both look gorgeous!) and a frame rate that would make you cry to type it out here

The game looks monster...

I do notice one tiny little thing wrong with the hyperion pic: the EA insignia is mirrored. Think you can have someone fix that right quick?

Posted by darthwoo on 08-23-2001 12:34 AM:

I hate to nitpick, seeing as you guys have infinitely more modelling skill than I ever will, but are you going to texture in those little ridges that the Orion has on the inner side of it's ring? There were some pictures posted of it, including some from the ItF model.

I have a TNT2 .... how do I select a higher resolution than 640x480

the only choices I get are 640x480 and 640x480 32 bit

does this mean my poor TNT2 canNOT run more than these settings?

Select high-res in the detection options. You also have to have the high-res art installed.
