Post tBE updates

Just posted was a screenshot of the Semnai class juggernaut, more screenshots are due in the near future showing various other new craft within The Babel Effect.

Final work on tBE's modifications has commenced and conversions are coming along well. Interface art and music media are still being composed at the moment.

Sounds like a hint.

'nother update!

The GVF Yaaru is up, an unconventional new fighter with turret defenses as well as a rather unstable prototype beam cannon! Whee!

Sounds nasty. Prototype? Does that mean it can backfire, or fail in the middle of battle?

*looks over shoulder*

Ummm.... yes... don't tell Mr. Akheton I said that...

It has 'stability issues.' Of course, this is because those brutish military louts don't take care of their weapons properly. After all, it works perfectly in the lab......

So let me get this straight.

I'm flying this GVF Yaaru fighting a horde of Dragon fighters and a Ravana. All of a sudden, while I'm making an attack run on the Ravana, my beam weapon fails and the Ravana tears me to pieces with flak!!!

How cruel! Especially because I'm a foreign alien!

Pray that you have lots of shield power

I might as well spoil a bit on the weapon's game mechanics:

First of all, the trick is being able to target your computers for the weapon since it is largely automated. (it is an independent gimbaled system on the craft which you manage the firing action for)

This requires a TAG warhead as well as a close range sensor scan or an AWACs vessel present.

Once this is accomplished, you must enter firing range, and then activate the weapon.

Due to it's instabilities, it may overload your power systems and cause your craft to be inert for a period of up to 30 seconds.

You'll definately want escort

So you're saying that the Yaaru is player-flyable? Excellent; I was imagining that it was just tabled as a cruiser class vessel so it could have turrets and a beam weapon, but used a very small model.

Mind you, you did have to name it the Yaaru, didn't you? (don't worry folks, all will be revealed...)

Well I did announce that there was a beam fighter of this name on HLP a few months ago, the mention was only put on the site recently however

I thought it was an odd enough name that no one would have the same... however it looks like Kellan is as weird as I am
