There primarily going to make it to move cargo and whatnot, not to be used as a fighter. I guess they liked the desing.

I had heard about NASA being interested in the Starfury
design years ago. I think they simulated it and thought it
would work but they had no intention of building the thing.

Well it is quite logical design, so this didn't come as a big suprise.

Wonder what's next... Olympus?

I remember an article a few years ago about the Starfury being a sci-fi ship design that NASA said would work in real life and that they were interested in the design like Zoobafoo said.

I hadn't heard they were building one, but hey- I'd like to fly it!

it would be so cool to see a real life starfury, it would be on the news and in some with space films (set around the current date). but too bad we won't be able to see star fury's fighting nial's in real life

You guys probably wont hear it in the news until the ISS (International space station) is near or completion, cause thats what it would be used for. If someone wants to read the complete artical go to the 48 Hours website and look in the archives! Does anyone know the 48 Hours website? Anyway it will be cool to see an actual star fury, maybee nasa should make an Omega next!

Okay...nothing at any of the places you suggested.

Find the article and bring us the link specifically. I'm a skeptic till I see something more real....

Not exactly a "Hey, we're gonna make these." but still cool!

I like the bit where JMS told them if they used it they have to call them "Starfury"

And here's the text if you can't be bothered to click the link

quote:

Bushnell's agency even took some inspiration from Straczynski's Babylon 5, and the spaceships he called star furies.

"They can turn, tilt, pivot, fly backward while they're firing forward a little bit," says Straczynski. "And some folks at NASA called us and said, 'We love that design. We need down the road to make forklifts...for the space station....Can we borrow this?'"

Go ahead, Straczynski said. His only requirement was that they use the name he created for them.

"I want to be 90 years old and look up at the television and see star furies over earth," he laughs.
