Hi everyone. ok picture are fine but i just thought i'd let everyone know the status of the mod area by area and the stage at which we are happy to release them:

Nial : completed (may get new textures - additional)
Freighter : needs lods 1 2 3 texturing
Jumpgate : needs lods 1 2 3 texturing
Tinashi : completed
Olympus : completed
Nova : currently being textured
Atm Shuttle : completed
Crew Shuttle : completed
Earth_Atm (close earth) : completed
Lintira : completed
Zephyr : completed

Effects :

Nebulas & Planets : completed

Sound Effects :

currently at version 4, some optimisation may take place, and a few effects still need replacing, but the majority of the work is complete

Tables :

Continuously being updated, interaction with sound effects needs work

Music :

6 sets. All excellent. Creates fatal error when exiting the game, but this doesnt seem to hurt anything. Not sure if this can be corrected at present time.

Missions :

Currently being made (5 or 6) this is just to shocase our material so far and main campaigns will follow later. Speech needs making and adding. This will come in a while all you voice actors.

Misc Work:

Command Briefing Ani's (for demo) : complete
Comm Ani's (in game ani's) : mostly complete
Interface Art : complete
Ship Selection Icons : complete
Mission Briefing Icons : a set is complete, these may be updated
Race Logo Ani's (generic ani's) : complete

I think this covers everything that will be in the first release:

Note : It doesnt cover everything, see have other models, but this is meant for reference to the first release and what will be there. Things like the ringstation will follow in release 2.

Any complete progress report would come with a plethora of pics, showing off all the new effects, models, and a few skirmishes, don't you agree my captain?

Great

Curious, what is the projected size of the project all compressed and ready for download?

I'm on a 24,000 connection, so I actually *map* when I will download certain files...

For non team members

hmm.. maybe I shouldn't be reading this. Btw, the Lintira's textures are probably going to change a bit. I'm doing this now. Shouldn't take long.

xaphod lintari textures have already changed well colour correction...i really dont think its worth changing them again at this point. However your welcome to if you want...i personally would prefer you to work on that minbari station of yours

I'm current working on jumpgate and ring station btw

Mimbari station version 0.1 has been completed in MAX.. I'm waiting for feedback from Tomcat to see what needs doing to it before I do the final convert, as it were.

As for the textures, I'm mainly trying to make them match up better, espescially around the front of the ship, and also remove some artifacts that exist on the texture, like unwanted shadows.

New texture

Below is a comparison between the texture I've just done, to my old one. Cptwhite, if the only changes that have been made to the original are colour correction, then this one should improve on that a bit. Anyways, it's your choice as to which you want to use.

Improvements - overall texture alteration, colour correction, texture matching, shadows removed, "edge" artifacts removed.

oh yes xaphod! Those texterues are way better than previous (were too grey for my taste).

The nial will likely to have new texies (60% chances) I'm doing it now(have been tasked for it by the team ), I have Capt. whites new texies and they look 10 times as better than previous ones.
This week youll have a taste of it, probably (in pics of couse!)

Whee!

I agree with Haderak, great job Xaphod

What is it with you and texturing!?
Is anyone taking count how many times you have retextured something this far?
First you complain how hard it is, now you texture and retexture all again and again... I think it's little funny...

But, if it makes you feel happy and those ships really become better looking (assuming that is possible), then do it.

BTW. That lintari looks very nice. Guess that retexturing really pays off..
Heh. Just noticed those funny spots in it's back...

We do it again and again because we are masochists...lol ,no we do it to make people like you happy not that we like spending hours and hours behind our computer desks. Its to make public happy AND FOR GLORY!!! MUHAHAHAHHAHAHAH

Posted by Thanatos on 08-05-2001 10:06 PM:

Do you have jobs or do you just sit at your desks texturing all day?
Or do you do it whilst you should be working?
Not that I'm complaining I just wonder where you find the time

currently im a student with nothing better to do

yes xaphod definately better textures - is it new UV mapping also ? i hope not .....send the texture maps to me here :

ken.sue@btinternet.com

(just the bmp's) colour might need a bit of tweaking further but it look a lot better now the textures match up correctly.

i'll play with them to sort them to match a bot more with sharlin and tinashi and i'll post em on to eternal for the next model pak

I'm a student too in, holidays now. I try to have a balanced life go out with my friends, read books ,I like military aviation related stuff as long as it has lots of technical stuff and war stories. speaking of wich i found out something realy scarry today. my father is a civil engineer and there was a work offer for him in ealy 80's at some of the adjacent building of Saddams hussains palaces!!!!
we didnt know him as well as we do know today, even so he declined the offer... phew!!!
Also I'm going to fly in a glyder a few day from now, as you see were not computer 'nerds'. We do find time for everything. all you gotta do is being organised...when not desorganised

It's the same model, just a different texture... I think maybe the contrast is a bit high, compared with the other ships, but thanks for agreeing that this is better.
Also, I'm a student that works in a night club.
