B5 River of Souls

Babylon 5 River of Souls was just on Sci -Fi. I watched it. And it was crap.

What's wierd is, I LIKE Babylon Five normally. But this was just really bad. Star Trek The Next Generation with a Troi episode bad.

I also watched B5 River of Souls...

He he he... 'LOVEJOY' was in it, HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA GA (<--missed the 'h') HA HA HA HA!

And strangely, even though I'm the resident B5 anti-fan, I thought it was very, very slightly entertaining... Possibly cos I was doing a Uni project at the same time...

Aye. I gather though, that their ships aren't going to appear in the mod at all. Having seen them, I think the poly count might be a tinsy bit too high.

Question

unsure.. could maybe be done. It'd be very difficult getting the organic look and keep it low polygon though. I reckon that at least someone in the project would be able to manage it.

Its most likely managable....but its not anywhere on the priority list right now. Maybe later.

River of Souls was definately the worst of the B5 TV movies. But A Call to Arms made up for it.

The River of Sould is the worst of the Bab5movies... ITB is the best and then comes the Call to Arms (practically Crusade movie, but who cares ) and ThirdSpace is full of merde also... But you godda love ITB...

Basically they like the movies with lots of space combat, and less jibba jabba.

Cant blame 'em realy

Posted by Wildlife on 08-02-2001 04:12 PM:

Thumbs up

in the river of souls, there was no space combat .

I wanted to see some furies and Soulhunters battle it out

For me, ITB I liked best overall, whole aCtA was wonderful do to the small bits within it, such as the "you'll get in a spacesuit and push it out of drydock" style lines.

RoS had all of the things that most B5 fans hate. Capt. Lockley, non-arc plot, excess *cute* moments and no real action to speak of.
Of course they probably spent most of the budget getting Martin Sheen, but what can ya do.
Personally, I'd much rather have seen Ivanova in the lingerie than Lockley.

And lastly, I'll have to agree that the order for the flicks has to be: ItB, aCtA, TS, and lastly RoS.

RoS gets the

ActA would have been better with Franke music. Therefore I say itB , TS , Acta , RoS-

itb would have been better if they hadn't skipped over teh battles during the minbari war so much woould have been nice to see some brave fury pilots managing to take out afew nials

and as i recall there wasn't much extra footage for the battle of the line which would have been nice, minor complaints though was a great film but i think i prefered a call to arms though i had some annoying bits in it too Galen awas abit hmmmmmm pathetic at times anyway again minor crits great film - third space all i can saaay is the vorlons should put shields liek that on there ships - then they would be completely unstopable

river of souls did suck - i bought it all on video bought them all infact and i only watched it the once and i dont plan on ever watching ti again - wish i hadn't bought it acaully

BAH!

How can you even put River of Souls even in the same category of the others!

Ok you all forget to tell us all how you all liked the first movie. The Gathering. OH yeah! Back in the day of Paramount's "Action Pack!" hehe, you have to give props to the original. So I think that it does have to go first, cause it is why all of you are here. so in my opinion it should go, Gathering(oh, and YES, that IS the same actor that plays Morden at the communications post! =D), In the Begining, then I have to say Thirdspace since I have never had the pleasure to see A Call to Arms. Now this is where the list ends... and it even has ACTA on it, even though I didn't see it. RoS doesn't even get a mention. I'm sorry, some of the story might have been good, but I just think it is one of the worst Babylon 5 productions. I pray that Legend of the Rangers is not so badly influenced by producers to get ratings (ie, TNT) like as in River of Souls... Oh well.

Anyone know of anyway a fan to get all the shows from somewhere where WB has released them all, and for a reasonable price? Or even better yet, anyone know what is the deal with B5VD? I read about it back in like Feb or March, but haven't heard anything since...

Exclamation I hated a A Call to Arms

I really didn't like A Call to Arms. The character portrayals seemed off, the dialog wasn't quite up to standard, the way Sheridan ws handeled was terrible (he is not that flaky, nor is everyone so unlikely to believe him, I realized he has aged, but I still don't think that is adequate justifacation), the motivations were weak or unclear at best (only the captain of the destroyer that joined with Sheridan was really convincing), and to many things just seemed to fall into place or get figured out easily. I haven't seen it in a while, but I remember not liking it. In the Beginning was very good, Londo's narration was powerful and touching. River of Souls wasn't so great, but I think Martin Sheen did a decent job as a Soul Hunter (he did seem out of place though). Thirdspace's only virtues were on-target character portrayals and contributing to Sheridan's nuke-happy legend. The Gathering is somewhat flawed and much of the exposition comes across to clumsily (the speech to Leeta in the opening sequence feels far to forced). That is my take and I'm sticking to it. Here's another scary bit, I didn't think that the Crusade/ACtA music was that bad (out of place, yes, bad, not entirely) and I really like the Crusade theme song (well timed).

What's wrong...

... with Evan H. Chen's music? Because if I remember right, at the beginning of the Babylon 5 series everyone complained to JMS that Franke's music was utter crap.

As time went on, Franke found his style to B5 series and everyone suddenly began to like it... I never have complained though, so I didn't understand why everyone was complaining...

But anyway... A Call to Arms atmosphere would be a lot different if there would be Franke's music.

And... comments about the B5 movies.

I think that every B5 movie is a bit disappointing but that's because Babylon 5 works better as a TV series than a movie. But if you have to name the worst movie then it's ThirdSpace or River of Souls.

In the Beginning and A Call to Arms are a must see movie to every SCI-FI fan...
