Freespace 2 rules!

Well, my copy does. I didn't have Freespace 2, but since you guys said the demo is gonna be released soon, I bought it on my little trip to the US. Got the Sci-Fi SIM of the Year Edition too, 3CDs.

So I get home (1000km away from where I bought it, in Canada) and it doesn't autoplay. I run FS2autoplay.exe/setup.exe and it says the file Isset_se has an error:

ISSET_SE caused a general protection fault
in module SETUP.EXE at 0001:000036d6.

There isnt even a readme.txt file in any of the CDs. Second CD has trailors and some movies, whole 3rd CD has rest of movies and some goodies (pics, music).

So I cant return it, (1000km away) and its not available in Canada... and I'm not gonna order it online and spend more money.

Lates.

Umm...d00d.....EVERY time I go down to my local EB, there is at least 1 copy of every FreeSpace game made....although the Sim of the Year Edition disappeared pretty quickly.

This is yet another reason why you never buy games away from home.

Hopefully you bought it at a chain store that has an outlet nearby.

And thanks for defacing the forum with "FreeSpace 2 Sucks" when the topic should have been "I'm having trouble with FreeSpace 2" or "Need FS2 Help".

You're lucky I just didn't delete it without reading.

I had a problem with Freespace 1 also. I had to copy the disc to my harddrive and install from there.

Freespace 2 works great! I recently bought it (two months ago, just for this mod) at Best Buy which was selling it in a package with Total Annihilation for 15 dollars US.

I already had TA so I just gave it away...

I'll try copying to HDD and installing from there

I DID get it at a chain store, but gotta return it within 3 days... I think I'll ask interplay, maybe they have a patch for something like this

defacing forums is what I do best

What chain? I've never heard of a three day return policy, especially when the item is defective. Call Interplay, maybe they will exchange it....

The name of the store is Software etc

It has a return within 7 days policy. I bought it 4 days ago.

But, good news! I copied CD1 onto my HDD and installed, and it worked!

FS2 is great! I'll see if I can edit my topic name. Thanks a lot Valen2k1!!!

Glad I could help!

Check with Software Etc about exchanges for defective product. It may be 7 days for a REFUND, but if you are exchanging for the same title it may be different. That's BS if you get stuck with a bad disc.
