What questions do you want answered in tBE?

The below is a poll for what questions you truly want answered in tBE in a manner as true as possible to the continuity of related series and the FS2 plotline.

You realize all this stuff would be based on YOUR perspective.... has nothing to do with the REAL plot... all fake You'd better mention that somewhere on the readme... or something

I'm going to confront Capella before I stop making FS2 related stuff, but its a tough one to confront.

Capella's answer is right in the open, the failure to see it is due to the inability for many to compile data available.

I'm sure that Dragonclaw and many others will scream that it is not "the REAL plot," however I can assure you that it is assembled from canon material as well as from introspectives of persons who created that canon that they've shared over time.

It is as true an answer as the FS community can receive until any future installments to the series, and it will not disappoint

Edit: ETAK is short for Etaknamki, which is the tower that may have inspired the story of Babel.

So now you know one part of tBE's title, now what's the effect?

Couple of things that hit me as I was reading through this topic:

1) In FS1, the goal of the Shivans was to take out the "head" of the 2 biggest powers in our area of the galaxy at the time: Vasudans (Vasuda Prime), and Terrans (attempt at Earth). When you think about the ramifications of this, it is very interesting. It virtually negates the "instinctual bahavior" theory, as well.

2) ETAK was explained fairly well in FS2, IMHO. It was a subspace communications device used to make contact with the Shivans. That such a device was needed in order to communicate with the Shivans is yet another indication of how intertwined they are with subspace.

Now I have a question for you all: Why did the GTVA think that they would be isolated from the Shivans by closing off the Capellan jump nodes? Sure, all those juggernaughts were heading that way, but what about the opening movie of FS1? How did the Lucifer get into Ross 128?

Does it? Wasps know howto build hives and where to place them. Spiders know where to build webs and catch as many insects as possible.

They aren't perfect, but the Shivans could be operating on a very high level of instinct. It could be simple instinct guiding them to search and destroy the homeworlds of the races that they destroy.

Actually ETAK used modulated quantum pulses, Shivan communication is a disruption in the fabric of space-time as a pulse sequence.

Looking at how inefficient verbal and written communication is, the Shivan's communication through this medium may be as simple as verbal, or it may be a more direct and instinctual communication form.

Similar to pheremones and social insects.

We've already seen that sub-space effects the Shivans similar to the way that social insects react to pheremones, (i.e. attraction to sub-space activity, defense of node clusters, layout of cargo depots) and in Twilight the Laomedon Conclave's technology in essence created "scents" to ward off the Shivans.

Perhaps Shivans use Ansibles.
