Will this mod work on Freespace 2: Colossus?

I got this bundled, obiviously cut-down (not too many missions) version of Freespace 2 with my sound card. I'm wondering if Babylon Project will work on that variant of the game.

Personaly i can't see why it would not work on it, it should have the same files as the full game only a few less missions

Yeah I think it should work.. if you want the full version (which I highly recommend) you can get it off of ebay from $5-$15 dollars.

You never know. Especially it's also lacking the multiplayer as well and is essentially an enlarged demo.

If it doesn't have the multiplayer that means it's missing a significant portion of the source code.. i wouldn't try to get any files designed for the full version to run on it

I would say try, but don't expect it to work.

Sorry, I was wrong: it does have multiplayer. I just hadn't looked from the right places...

Unhappy Doesn't work with Freespace 2: Colossus

OK, I tested it with your the new release, and it didn't work. The menus did work, and looked great, but apparently the custom missions are disabled in this version of the game - campaign stayed the same, altough with a unarmed Starfury as the player ship. You may want to add this info to you FAQ.

Anyhow, what I did see and try, your mods looks fabulous!

FS2: Colossus came bundled with my folks (Cr)Aptiva and from what I could see it has everything the full version of FS2 has except the last two acts of the main campaign and whatever unique briefing .anis they had. Custom missions aren't disabled (at least not on the version I have) either. It uses a different name for its uninstall registry key (FreeSpace2OEM) than the full version so mods based on Kazans UAPI installer can't find it unless you change the key or bypass UAPI altogether.

Question

Well, I used the default core files, which are just an self extracting zip. I ran it, and replaced folders in data folder. Did I do it right? As you can read, I'm a bit new to this Freespace modding stuff.

there is a "reg fix" out there for UAPI not locating OEM versions
but that different registry key is different just for that reason - so full version auxiliery installers CANT find it

Yep, it was all a Volition conspiracy to make sure UAPI wouldn't work

Unhappy Help!

Admiral, could you tell how exactly did you install the mod? I don't seem to get the missions or the campaign to work, altough I'm 100% sure I put the files in right places.
