Jump engines as a weapon...
This may sound strange, but in the mod, is there any chance of ships being destroyed/damaged when getting caught in another ship's jump point? Sounds like something that would need source code to do. I was just wondering because I suddenly got the thought: "Why don't more ships use their jump engines offensively?" In ItB, the Black Star nearly annihilates a task force just by jumping in close enough to them. In ACtA, the Victory opens a jump point in the middle of a bunch of Drakh ships and destroys them. In Severed Dreams, I wonder if Hiroshi could have opened a point on the Roanoke rather than ramming?
I don't think its possible (I'm not one of the techies mind you), but think about the unbalance. If a ship could hurt another ship by opening a jumpgate, why not research opening jumpgates for the sake of opening jumpgates on other ships. It'd unbalance the game, plus the b5 universe =). I dunno about you, but more than once I've had a shivan cruiser warp right in front of me. Damn the sathanas for trying to do that.

I saw this in the show but remember that jump engines drain a lot of energy and only a few ships have enough power to create a jump point and fight with maximum power.
Yeah, it can be done via scripting.
The Minbari have more power in their ships, better hyperspace tracking, and can therefore use jumping as a offensive manuver. However, its pretty risky in any case because im presuming that the potential for a jumppoint to destabilize is greater.
An Earth ship (aside from the Excalibur and maybe the Warlock) doesn't have the hyperspace tracking or the power to defend itself once the manuver has been completed.
It would be fun to see in the main campaign a Drakh or other group held Shadow warship being taken out by a Whitestar doing such a manuver...

I'd think that a larger capital ship would be required to do it. A WhiteStar just doesn't make a big enough jump point to spread out over a large enough area.
You *could* do it...but then you'd probably collide coming out of the point.
However , i think we can do this indirectly via scripting in the missions. One ship arrives , an other explodes.
The WhiteStar have sufficient power to do the jump point, remember that the reactor, sensors and jump point generators are based on Vorlon tech and whiteStar is the ship that I see make more acurate hyperespace jumps in the show like the strategical jump in the battle of Proxima 3 and the planetary jump like Mars and Jupiter.
I know, its just that the vortex would be too small for it to affect any great number of ships. It would also mean that the WhiteStar would have to change course radically coming out of the jump point.
The Excalibur is also based on Minbari/Vorlon technology and on Crusade it had a several minute power rebuild on the jump point capacitors.
Yes, but WhiteStar used also Vorlon technology on it's engines and engine systems, but Victory destroyers probably don't. This is mostly due to lack of knowledge of Vorlon technology.
As we know, WS used Vorlon bio-armor but still in Crusade, Victory destroyers does not have bio-armor.
Instead of it, Victories haves reflective-armor, and most technology is probably same as in Sharlins, a little more advanced though.
Even the big-motha-gun was a poor version of Vorlon main-gun.
Howewer, as we know, BlueStar has bio-armor. But we don't know how effective it is. It still can be weaker than WS version.
I hope that Victory destroyers were planned to be as well upgradable as possible. So it is easy to upgrade weapons, engines, armor, sensors and so on.
Actually WhiteStar is the most effective ship in the Babylon 5. It is small, fast, maneuverable, fast to produce and it has a lot of firepower. It's beam is at least as powerful as EA Omega's or Narn G'Quans single beam gun, maybe even two.
The Victory class destroyers used the gravity drives that the mimbari use, The only thing the Victory class uses that I know if vorlon is the main guns, and that’s just the design. It also has allot of EA tech that went into the building of it, and some mimbari, but not as much as EA. Remember that Mimbari War-Cruisers are far more advanced than anything EA has. Except for maybe the Warlockwhich uses some stolen shadow tech, and even then I still think a Mimbari War-Cruiser would still win.

I would have thought there to be more Minbari tech than maybe there is perhaps.
