Warlock Anyone?

Tomcat sent me this this morning. I think you'll all be suitably impressed as I was.

I'm telling you...its not quite finished yet.

There are still a few small turrets to place. But this is a truly impressive model. Probably the best low poly Warlock ever.

Now get back to texturing CptWhite

That's one helluva model!
Nice job

Posted by haderak on 04-18-2001 06:48 PM:

Hmm thats a nice model...but ( I hope you wont crucify me for what I'm about to say)
But I think it shouldn be considered a priority right now, as there are ships that must be completed and released before the warlock (after the demo)such as the vorchan the g'quan the primus the sentri the frazi etc. without these we cannot even make missions about the narn-centauiri war and the shadow war and the civil war. The warlock comes after those.
I have also a mesh of the warlock and its textured but when I view it on the ships database there are colour 'spikes' coming out of it and project themselves to the infinity. Sudenly you can see a spike from the mesh cross the space into the infinity. FRED2 crashes when I load it.Does this mean that its buggy? do I need to make/get a new one? can I just fix it or what?

Posted by IceFire on 04-18-2001 06:55 PM:

That means its buggy and this one is better.

As far as Tomcats job as a modeler is concerned, we have all those models you mentioned.

Let me make a list off the top of my head of every model that we now have in one way or another.

- Aurora
- Badger
- Thunderbolt
- Olympus
- Omega
- Nova
- Warlock
- Hyperion/Midwinter
- Babylon 5
- Transport
- StarLiner
- Earth Force One
- Primus
- Sentri
- Frazi
- G'Quan
- Shuttles (a variety thereof)
- Jumpgate
- Nial
- Sharlin
- Tinashi
- WhiteStar
- Firstones, Drakh, Vorlons, and Shadows (we have some of these but not 100% sure on all of them)

So, we've got a huge number of models. We don't have people texturing them or texturing them quick enough to release them. Otherwise we would have been done a long time ago.

Posted by haderak on 04-21-2001 03:14 PM:

have you tryed to load it on the game, even if the tables arent exactely...complete you can try to see if it is not buggy... to avoid disapointements, like me, I have tones of models but only a few are bug free.
The latest I got to work was the victory class, but cannot make it fire weapons.
By the way wich programs do you use to convert LWO format to COB? and to POF?
I'm having difficulties conserving subobject hirarky structure while converting formats.
For example for the Victory I have in LWO format the follwing structure:
-Object1
exenginemain
exengine
exverwin
exgunsm
-object2
exbox
exbot
extop
exdef
exstab
-object3
exfrontleft
exfrontright
exfront
exgun
exboxside
exboxf_b
exboxtop

when I have it to Pof I get only:

-object
object1
object2
object3

any Idea to go arround these problems? ice? anyone?I would realy apreciate if you could give the answers to these questions.

Posted by Kazan on 04-21-2001 03:40 PM:

structure must be

-"ShipName"
|-LOD0polys
|-LOD0subojects...
|-"detail1"
| |-LOD1polys
| |-LOD1subjs
|-"detail2"
| |-LOD2polys
| |-LOD2subjs
|-"detail3"
| |-LOD3polys
| |-LOD3subjs

And where did you get this Victory class destroyer from?

How many polys is it?

Posted by haderak on 04-21-2001 06:32 PM:

I got it from the buda5 site. http://mods.firstones.com/buda5/iallianc.htm
It has 1601 polys, a bit to low no?
and it has just 2 texies.

Posted by Kazan on 04-21-2001 10:41 PM:
