I don't know if anybody else has brought this up before, but I have seen no talk of it at all....is Babylon 5 itself going to have a part to play in the mod?

yip, in the dark ages (around september last year) IPandrews put up some rather tasty shots of a Babylon 5 station he made....but then he got upset and started crying (because someone else had also beeen working on one without telling us, so he thought his work was pointless) and err a big argument started then if i remember Zippy (from rainbow) started a bout of slagging off...no wait that cant be right....must of beeen the alcohol warping my mind again....

but there is a Babylon 5 station, somewhere, probabyl unconvertable...but there you go

1. Go **** yourself. That model took me two weeks of my very limited free time to produce. I had a lot of reasons to be angry which I am not going to go over again. Under the circumstances I was really reasonable.

2. I relinquished my claim to the Babylon 5 model a long time ago. I do not know why it still says
quote:
disputed
on the model status page. It's not. It's Wingnut's.

3. I have had my model running stably under the FS2 engine. Very stably. I'd like to see you try and do that with a 2K polygon model you tosser.

4. I have said to the Babylon Project core team more than once that I am happy to develop my EAS B5 model further as long as they can guarantee that nobody else will develop theirs simultaneously. They have not been able to guarantee this, so I have not develop.

An old version of my model is available from my home page:
www.go.to/ipandrews (click on fs2mods)

I don't know how Wingnut is doing with his model. He may well see this and interject with some news. I'd be interested in seeing how the model is progressing as it's his model the mod will be using.

no offence IP, i was only joking. I thought your model was great and i fully understood why you were mad....i was just trying to add a bit of humour.....please accept my sincere apology if i offended you

Why in hell we are not using IPAndrews Babylon 5 model... I just tested it (though without textures) and it looks great!

Why it must be done again if IPAndrews has already made it?

Awww... this sucks...

Dunno what were using dark.....

some in-game shots of different models. i put IP's Babylon 5 model there use to show you guys...these pictures dont do it justice...to grainy...in game it looks as sharp and smooth as you could imagine.....it needs working on but (textures, lods, rescaling, other things) but it looks superb, im only displaying it due to my curiousity im not sure if this model will be used.....anyway it gets the thumbs up from me

i had to alter the gamma for these pictures so they were better visible so the lighting is incorrect

The reason why it's stated as "disputed" is because we wanted certain people's feelings to calm down so they can approach the matter reasonably. The whole thing blew out of our hands, there's been no point in bringing it up because it's not our priority model right now. There is wrong information already posted at this page and because people have a tendency to make wild conclusions over a couple of sentence, I will not start clearing it up here.

We'll have to take a look at both models and decide which one is in the best condition to convert. And before anyone asks, yes the station will have its rotating sections.

The station looks cool even in its naked state

see what I mean

anyway the model still needs a bit of optomiseing and IP was still in his multable subobject stage, though I don't think it would take much work to get it working, as I recal it was the best model we had, but there were at least two other people who had made a B5 mesh.

a simalar situation arised soon after I joined were I had a completely done star furry mesh, wich, being the creator of it, I felt was better than the one that was being worked on. after a great deal of fighting I just gave up on convincing the others to useing it (even though it was completly done and perfict and I'm still mad about it), I'm still planing on releceing it after we relese the mod, or whenever.
maybe I could be permited to relece my model as a rejected one.

despite all this fighteing we still seem to somehow get things done.

i thought WingNut is off-team already and it's IPAndrews model we are going to take ?

I like his work and he also helped to introduce me to texturing.
IPAndrews , carry on old pal !

The model was built using multiple objects but in a Freespace considerate way. Using nice flat faces and round numbers. After a little add edge it assembles into 3 surprisingly stable subobjects. The minimum required to represent the 2K polygons at 800 or so polygons per subobject. Most of the engine incompatabilities, even with the old model on the net, are minor.

When I stopped developing last year the only things remaining were a little work on a small part of the superstructure which looked nicer in Wingnut's model, and texturing. Neither was awkward.

As for the other models. I'm honestly not fussed which model is used. I've got other projects these days. Some Freespace related, others not. So pick the best model. If it looks like mine and nobody else is developing theirs, I am happy to finish it and can guarantee that (based on tests I ran last year) it will look stunning (I can't bold that enough). That's been my position since last year and it remains so.

I was hopeing not to renact the role I played in the incedent so I'm not going to say much, just I recal a model that had a lot more than three subobjecs.
and I think I mentioned that yours was probly the best one available. so I'm not trying to be ofincive, I was just pointing out that it still needed some work.

i just want a working, good looking in b5 model and in my opinion IP's model satisfies that criteria. Im not voting for using it or not but its the best (make that only) model ive seen, its looks great and is half complete.......if Ip would be ok with it how about you finihsing it off boboau, do the UV and lods and send it to me for texturing.....you can do it yourself IP if you like.....send the finsihed model to bob for Uv projection then on to me for some texturing.......i think this would be a good process for its development...let me know what you think on this thread

I'm not being offensive either. Three (3) subobjects. It's assembled from lots of subobjects, but the final assembled model has three (3). The older model downloadable from my web site may even be two (2)!!! :O
