What happened to the other Sol jumpnodes?

Well the title says it all, i did ask this on the HLP forum but was told it was a mistake by V, i don't belive this cos these nodes are used in freespace 1 so how did they collapse?

Theres only 1.

To what systems did these nodes of yours lead? And which mission do they appear in?

there are 3 nodes leading from sol to Delta Serpentis, Alpha Centauri and some other system according to several command briefing animations...

its common admitted knowledge (V admitted to the mistake) but several of use have covered their tracks with this theory...

When the Lucifer exploded, not only did the explosion totally shatter the Sol/DS node, but it sent a massive subspace shockwave (lightyears wide) across the entire Sol system, causing cataclysm's at the other nodes as well...

The reason the GTVA are trying to reopen the SOL-DS node (when Sol-AC, if it existed (?), would have been better, since AC is closer to Sol than DS) is that...

1) its closer to the GTVA home-systems
2) maybe the conduit has some stability left, since it was the epicenter, as opposed to a node hit by aftershocks (the same theory as earthquakes, as sometimes the epicenter experiences little to no damage, while some place 2 miles away is leveled)

while its more likely (plotwise) to be 1, if subspace existed in real-life as it does in the FreeSpace universe, 2 may be the technical explanation

Those other nodes could have been unstable in the first place and just showed up on the map. I noticed that a while back and came to this conclusion.

What? I'm not crazy! But the rest of you are!

But really it was just a mistake...or rather, an animation that was done before the final story was decided on.

i don't remeber any node but the one mentioned

The whole FS story barely makes sense going by the official nodemap...WTF would the Lucy come out at Ross 128, skip RIGHT past the node to Earth, nuke Vasuda and come allll the way back....

Posted by Charger on 05-08-2001 10:01 AM:

simple, they didn't know where our homeworld's were, they found out about vesuda first, then turned around and headed after us when they found out where our homeworld was.

Posted by G-UK on 05-08-2001 01:44 PM:

They found Vasuda (notice the spelling?) first, simply because it has multiple nodes...

Sol only has one, an is isolated...

this is obviously for plot

Lucifer went from Ross128 to Ikeya. Presumably there is a quicker route between those two systems.

me i have always been confused with the jumpnode map hehehe. It has always confused me from the way the game unfolds the map does not make since but oh well. heheheh

ya, the fs1 map was unclear.

don't forget, the shivans are a lot better with subspace than terrans and vasudans (yeah yeah, i know), they might be able to travell along nodes that are less stable than the nodes that terrans and vesudans are able to traval on.

Posted by NightHammer on 05-11-2001 03:28 AM:

I seem to remember 3 nodes from the CB ani's

Posted by IceFire on 05-11-2001 03:54 AM:

Exactly right Charger.

Yes, there was three nodes in some CB animations. Those animations are mistakes. They were done before the story was finished. There is no conspiracy and there aren't other nodes to the Sol system.

Delta Serpentis node is the ONLY jump node.

Posted by Charger on 05-14-2001 09:59 AM:

maybe those other nodes are real but they are just way too unstable to even beam communications through. with the application of the knossos tachnology, thos nodes might some day be stable enough for communications, maybe even ships.
