Question for Ya' All

Well, now that I have about 10+ ships going into my shivan campaign named Hidden Terror, I declare that my campaign is worth a trailer, for this reason I ask a few questions. 1. How do you do trailers- subquestions=
1. What program do you use to make the spot in the BWO trailer that had a animation of charon and it zoomed out while text appeared.
2. What program did you use to capture video
3. What program did you use to cut out and edit the captured video
4. How long does it take approximately

Thats all..

On this board, you'll have to check back like in 3 days before someone who knows tells you.

I'm beginning to realize that.. its pissing me off too haha.

Well, I have no idea what tools were used to make the BWO Trailer, but it seems that you could use any editing software to put it together. What tools do you have access to or think you could obtain? You could use something like Premiere for editing, or AfterFx which would give you more control over text. As far as caputring in-game footage, perhaps you should check hotbot.com and do a search. I can't imagine it could be that difficult. Worst comes to worst, you could just get screen grabs and pan around them sort of like the Saving Private Ryan teaser.

Well so much for an informative answer...

1. What program do you use to make the spot in the BWO trailer that had a animation of charon and it zoomed out while text appeared?
A: That was 3D Studio Max and the amazing talents of Styxx at work.

2. What program did you use to capture video?
A: I forget which program Dynamo used, but it had something to do with a video capture card as well.

3. What program did you use to cut out and edit the captured video?
A:I think that was PhotoSuite III/VideoSuiteIII. Comes with alot of computers.

4. How long does it take approximately?
A: Lets just say that Styxx and Dynamo spent many hours putting this thing together.

Uhh...I was just attempting to point out you don't have to do things exactly the same way as the BWO group to create a trailer. You could probably make something in FLASH if you really wanted to. Personally, the in-game footage of ships blowing up and flying around doesn't really do much for me in terms of a trailer anyway, but I do applaud the efforts of this group for putting something together.

The point I previously stated to you DragonClaw is that we didn't just go and learn the skills to do this trailer for this campaign, Styxx has had years of experience with making this stuff and Dynamo had some previous experience with editing so we combined the expertise and made it.

I encourage you to learn, but take steps upto it. Shooting for the highest rung from the onset is going to be a disaster...belive me...

I believe ya! I believe ya! ... Was hoping it would be something you could learn in one day, kind of like making flash movies... guess not, ah well.
