Hmmm...seeing as how I don't have any problems running ModView32, I wonder if the statement shouldn't be the otherway around and reflect on the user

Ok, so what exactly goes wrong? be a bit more specific (sorry if you posted this in earlier threads, I just noiticed this one)

Did you install the DLL-pack? That's basically the only requirement besides being able to run an OpenGL supporting app...and if your card don't support OpenGL, you might wanna try a DX Wrapper, maybe that'll work...

I placed the OpenGL thingy into the ModelView32 directory. Is there anything else I have to do to it?????

And what is a Dx Wrapper.

The problem is, that FRED2 crashes everytime I try to run one of the models. It says: "can't open model file blah blah blah"

I think we'd better start at the beginning.

Why are you putting the OpenGL DLL file in the modelview directory? ModelView as far as I know uses the standard OpenGL software drivers (I could be wrong) that Windows has (3d pipes for example is done in OpenGL).

It could just be that windows sucks all together, but is the only platform for such l33+ games...

I have windows me... works fine for me

Once again, you need to start at the beginning.

What models crash? What do they crash? FRED or ModelView? What are the error messages if any? Describe what you've done in detail including the problems you've encountered in which programs.

Right now im really confused as to what your having a problem with.

Posted by CODEDOG ND on 05-27-2001 02:25 AM:

any model that is not in a vp file crashes FRED2. The only thing I have done to fix it is, put that OpenGl thingy in the ModelView directory like the little warning sign said when i went to open ModelView for the first time. And the debugger in Fred2 says can't open the model..then it gives the model name.

What models have you tried?

Try the Vidar from Warzone. Tell me if that works or not.

Posted by CODEDOG ND on 05-27-2001 05:22 AM:

cos it said to put it there so it wont mess with any of my other games...and could WindowsMe have any effect on it???

the Vidar and the Cypher will work, its the ones that you have to put in the models file by hand that do not work.

What do you mean, "put in the model files by hand"?

The VP File ones?

Posted by CODEDOG ND on 05-27-2001 06:06 PM:

I already said the VP ones work, its is the ones u have to place in the model folder. the ones you get from zip files like the Kato.

Remember...
pofs go into the models folder
textures go into the maps folder

To view the files in modelview you must have the pof and textures in same directory.
To use the files in the game they must be in the models/maps folders.

Actually, Dragonclaw, with the new modelview, you can have he textures in the maps directory and it will show up in the viewer perfect.

Oh... never tested that.....
