The worst thing imaginable has happend..

I'm not sure if I'm correct. Or if this is how it always is. But I stand here astonished that a great thing, can create such dread. Let me explain.

Open Source Software (OSS) does not require any type of authorization to do anything with it (aslong it dosent break any laws). This means, they could make there own version of windows. This, as far as I know is completely leagle. Aslong as its not sold..

Well, its happend to Freespace 2. I have come upon a website, useing OSS and this java based online game system to make what I would consider there own Freespace 2. This is a very populer game, played by many (the copy). Its free.

Its really a sad thing. Really. Its near identical. The graphics are of course poor. But the controls, the basis of the GUI. They are all near identical. You cannot tell me this isn't a copy of Freespace 2. This is horable.

Is that so terrible? Exepting for the HUD, that doesn't look so bad, and that's free, so what the point?

By them copying this game, and making it free, it lessens the number of people who would actuallt spend 9.95 and buy this game...

This is sad...

True true true, but the thing is the games aren't the same. Besides, FS2 wasn't bought because of interplay..its their fault!

At this stage i doubt it would hurt sales. I paid full price for Freespace 2 DVD. 30quid from EB and in sep

I got it full price the very first day it was out.

From EB too, but they charged US dollars...

I have no idea what quid are...

and It's on 3 cd's I would much ather have the DVD copy though...

hehe.£ pounds. sterling etc. Good old British money
