Campaign Idea

I recently recieved an e-mail from a member of the FS2 community, asking my opinion on his campaign he was starting to make. Not really knowing the do's and don'ts (sp?) of making a campaign, I decided to post his message here and provide him with a link to this thread. All you smart folks can give him some input on his idea.

Here's the message:

Hey there. I've had FS2 sice it came out in I don't know when. Campaign
Watch provides many additional missions for me, and I'm sure thohusands
around the country. I've got an idea, a campaign called "DISRUPTIONS 2001"
(or just DISRUPTIONS). I've got the story line worked out, I just have to
get the thing on paper or whatever. I've estimated around 20-30 mission.
Uses standard FS2 ships and the Iceni frigate MOD. Can you get back to me on
what you think? I'm planning for the alpha version to be finished by March
2002, beta by September 2002, and the final by June 2003. Thx for your time.

Praise/Bashes/Ideas are all welcome.

But um......that doesn't really tell us anything about the campaign itself. If we had some more details, we could comment.

Um, what?

And I have a suggestion for the campaign. I don't think that time line for development is good. No one wants to wait over 2 years for a campaign. It takes less time to make an entire game. A campaign should by no means take that long to make, especially since he doesn't plan on doing any custom modding.

I figure by the end of 2001 or beginning of 2002 campaign development will drop to nill and playing those campaigns will also drop to nill.

Well, i wasnt a member back then, but...

never know freespace might last longer than that - there doesn't seem to be anything out there under development to rival it

the only challengers is B5 into the fire - and although it looks great it might not play well

so unless volition manage a miricle and pull freespace 3 out of a hat - we might all still be here in a year or two
