not sure how many turrets it had total but it had no beam cannons and no flak turrets at all it stuck to firely slow glowing balls that are eay to dodge - my main complaint about freespace was the ships did inspire fear that you might get blown out of space as you closed with them

Why not just look at the tbl file?

Posted by KillMeNow on 02-28-2001 03:08 AM:

ok i just went and had a look turrets 1 - 5 have 3 huge terran turrets in them and turrets 6 - 16 are just normal terran turrets - no missiles, beams or flak cannons

In FS1 that's the case. In FS2, it is armed with BGreen beams, TerSlashes, a couple AAAf's, and some Teran Turets. Oh right. And some Terran Huge Turrets.

In FS2 it's fairly formidable. Not so much in comparison to the Hecate though.

In a straight up fight (read: no fighter complement) I think an Orion would be more than a match for a Hecate. The Orion has much heavier cap ship to cap ship weaponry. However, with fighters involved, the Hecate would win because of the larger complement and the heavier anti-fighter defenses.

You need to script in a "Beam-Free-All" event.

Yes, you're a newbie. But that'll change with practice.

Another thing - in FreeSpace, it's significantly harder to make a trash mission - but there are ways to do it if you don't watch yourself/try hard enough.

On the other hand, in the Descent series, it's dead easy. :P

Read the table file for the GTD Bastion (Orion entry number 2). Thats the old armaments.

The FS2 Orion has 3 BGreens, 2 TerSlash (if memory serves) and a mix of Terran Turrets, Terran Huge Turrets, and AAAf's.

The old one only had Terran Turrets and Terran Huge Turrets.

It's been an argument between the 3 BGreen and 3 TerSlash (that most people seem to have) and the 1 BGreen and 2 TerSlash (that some [1 so far] people seem to have) armaments.

well I Downloaded some program that allowed you to change the gun turrets into missile turrets... my luck I didnt even manage to install the program...

so you say its fun to be mentally hindered I cant argue you with that...

Btw a Orion missile destroyer would wipe out all competition...

Missiles aren't all that powerful. Fishies are cool, though

Posted by Snipes on 03-03-2001 12:48 AM:

Who cares if they're powerful? Just put Helios torpedoes on every turret! >:-D

Posted by KillMeNow on 03-03-2001 03:12 AM:

you got the ship jumping in not there when the mission starts? if so the you have to set the SEXP event so that its when orion arrives beam free all orion - if that doesn't make sence email me i'll explain in more detail

WTF?

Posted by Jabu on 03-04-2001 03:34 PM:

I know. I have that, everyone else has that. I just met one person who insisted that there was only 1 BGreen and 2 TerSlash beams.

I guess that's all corrected.

Yeah, some people can't be wrong...
