German Version

May I ask what exactly is the difference between the english and the german version ?

It is not as I thought it is , somehow there is an additional table , and a number of entries of other tables are just ignored.

I am with the TBP-Team and I notice that some stuff ( ships- weapons.tbl ) do not properly work with the german version.

Any advice ? What are the differenes and the nice details I have to pay attention to ?

Thx , Skullar.

Umm, the German version is in German, DUH!!

It is not so easy as you might think boct !
They didnt only replace english text with german , they somehow altered the tbl files the way some entries are ignored while others have been added .
I would appreciate feedback on this by someone who knows the differences...

Well, other than the medals.tbl having different medal names than the English ones, I would assume that different entries in the other tbls would be in German as well, although I don't think they changed Ship and weapons names.

I would assume not much has been altered as it would be a lot of extra work to have the German tbls validated by PXO in FS2 multi.

Sometimes the german version gets messed up with user made campaigns as the medals.tbl is different from the English version. (At least it was true for FS1)

That might be why I can never get a game going with the Germanz... hmm....

i seem to remember some german player saying that all the command briefing wav files were removed because [V] couldn't get anyone who could speak german AND sound like Robert Loggia

I like the voice of the pilot who complains about all the ships in the mission where the Bastion bites the dust

P.S. Who did Steven Baldwin ( ) do the voice of?

i would just like to know how so many people know so much about the german version.

Should we let him know?

Yes... it's because it's the coming of...
THE FOURTH REITCH!

Also, Stephen Baldwin did the voiceover in the introduction cutscene.

German version SUCKS!!!! Only in-flight communications and command briefings are spoken!!!!!! YEAH...you must READ the briefings...

By the way...the tables are the same as in the english version...I don't know how they made the texts germna without changing the tables....

...it's the same thing with the mission texts. If you open a mission in FRED2, it's english....but in the game it's german!

And some guys have "wrong" voices...for example an admiral speaks like a pilot, who just came from the academy....

*but the grammar is without any mistakes...*

yes, yes, yes.....
And what can you tell me about the differences ?

Posted by Slanker on 02-28-2001 01:44 PM:

I didn´t experience any troubles with different tbl files and the German version (which I´m using). There was a medal incident (causing a mission to crash) in FS1, but I think it was removed in FS2.

Posted by Skullar on 02-28-2001 03:14 PM:

You guys do not understand....

As I said FS2 seems to ignore certain table entries and use others instead.
You have no probs with the german version. Well, that's OK but when we make our MOD we will have our own table files and I do not want FS2 to ignore the entries of THEM .
Do you understand ?

Posted by IceFire on 02-28-2001 07:56 PM:

What entries are being ignored.

You're probably doing something wrong like the rest of us have already done and its just being silly

FS2 is very tempermental.

Posted by Skullar on 03-01-2001 12:07 PM:

This is not your problem, IceFire .
You dont have the german version, you can't help us on that , the german version is slightly different than the english one, so you cant do anything about it.

This problem will be treated by Alpha-1 and me and perhaps other FS2 fans of the german community. On this I would appreciate Info from people who are familiar with the traits of the german version.

We want to make the mod FULLY OPERATIONAL with the german version and secondly we will translate it so that it suits our needs.

This whole thing is not a concern of the original MOD Team. Therefore I ask the programmers what they made different. They did NOT simply replace english text with german as you might suggest.
