The Evil VW

A yes, so I thought for a long time....

Much like the borg I saw VW consuming, altering, essentialy perverting my fav FS sites into Hosted ones. Then Ground Freespace closed and for me it was decided! VW was Evil and trying to steal all the fans etc. Now I realize that wasnt and isnt true. You did perhaps merger and keep the community alive instead. So good for you, and I apologise for my hasty opinion.
Still I must say.

Well then, that would be changing the role of GFS. We were a community news site, much like what FSw and VW are now. You should have said in your post about GFS being hosted by VW that we would cover Mods, hosted site news, etc. As clearly stated in the hosted section, it says that FSw doesnt want a community news site - why would that hold any different for GFS?

Okay, some of you kinda lost me...Snipes, you, of all people, should not be lecturing us on "not having will to create anything seriously." Have you suddenly gone from a jokster on this board to a serious person? And don't ever tell anyone here they don't have will to create things seriously. What the hell do you think Volition Watch is? Do you think IceFire and WildWolf made it overnight? Do you think I made GFS overnight? Believe me, if I didn't have to close my site, I wouldn't have.

And we need to clear something else up right now. GFS and VW were not competitors. IceFire by no means wanted GFS to close. Both sites often exchanged info. Remember the Easter Egg hunt that DC and GFS did together? All of the larger FS sites were never, ever, against eachother. Having friendly competition can only benefit everyone, and that is why neither me nor Ice wanted to see GFS close. But it had to, there was simply no choice.

So what am I going to do now? Why not put my skills to good use, and keep the community I helped build strong? So Ice and I talked, and he asked his staff, and Fantom and I came here. I am here now helping to keep the Volition community strong, along with everyone else. My interests are always for the community.

So yes Snipes, I take offence to you saying that we can't do anything, and many other things you have said, but I have choosen to ignore.

And feel free to say whatever you want back to me Snipes (don't be vulgar), I'm not going to ban you for calling me names.

Just to set the history books straight.

WildWolf and myself had no intention in the beginning of bringing the staffs of either Descent Chronicles nor Ground FreeSpace into Volition Watch.

Basically, Gamestats was falling apart and Remora and Orange contacted WildWolf and myself to try and see if they could get in on it. We talked for a good hour at least and spent several days talking it over before we did. I didn't want to see DC die but it happened and we made the best of it.

Ground FreeSpace got unplugged by Stomped and Jennings did quite a bit to try and find a new host. Heck, I did some searching for a new host myself. Unfortunately, this didn't work the best way and again, we made the best of it and integrated GFS into VWatch as well.

Despite popular belief and conspiracy theorists, we didn't buy anyone out and we didn't try to establish a stranglehold on the community. I know there were other FreeSpace and Volition sites attempting to establish themselves in the last few months but I haven't heard much from them recently. I encouraged those people to do their best and bring a site online.

So, despite our apparent evilness and whatnot, we've really tried to be as good to the community as possible.

Regardless of wether you believe me or not, the truth will attend to itself.
