Probably Illegal

Is there any way to trick an OEM version of freespace into thinking an AMD processor is a PIII?

I wanna play it on my pc, but it's OEM, and only works with PIII 500+Mhz.

FS1 this is...

If it's illegal, i'll ask again quietly...lol

Man its not worth going thru it for that... just borrow FS1 from someone not playing it anymore or look on Ebay.

I want to use this on my hella cool Duron processor, cause PIII SUX!

Because it will be a pain in the a$$ to get it to work, that's why!! Besides it will be like 5 bucks!

It worked perfectly on every AMD processor of me. (AMD K6-2 400, AMD Athlon 1000)

I'm one of the morons that never bothered to get FS1 because I didn't think I'd like it. Then I played the demo and realized I was wrong. Then I played the FS2 demo and realized that FS2 was better so I shouldn't really bother getting FS1. So now I have FS2, and I have no intention of getting FS1. =P
I also thought I'd never bother with Descent 1 and Descent 3, but in the end I got them both. Didn't even consider wasting my cash on the Mercenary add-on though. The Black Pyro is for pansies, period.

What I mean is that the game will only work - Meaning will only work - on a pc running PIII at atleast 500 mhz, cause of the setting. Is it possible o get a usermade patch to change that?

Back to the issue at hand. I hate having this happen, you guys are all dumbasses when it comes to serious info...

Maybe nobody can help you because, uh, nobody knows or has had your problem.
I'd suggest patching it up to the latest version from the website, or even if you have the latest version, repatch it from the Volition webpage, maybe that'll "clear out" the problem.

Patching won't work since it sounds like he has one of those demos that come with new computers so you can check it out - It must have been bundled with PIII computers, so that will explain why it must have a P3 computer. No idea how to help though..
