What do you want to see in FS3?
Awhile back, I saw a topic on the VBB indicating that Outrage might do FS3. Now, maybe I'm biased, but I don't want them to do it; I want Interplay to sell the license to THQ so Volition can develop it. Okay, now that I've said that, what does everyone want to see in FS3? I would like to see, for example, better damage effects on capships(ex. Helios rips hole in ships hull rather than minor particle spewage), the ability to actually take off/land, rather than warping in/out every time, more weapons, more Vasudans, and region-specific damage to capships. Meaning, segment the capship, and you can destroy one section of it(deformable models), but once it's taken X amount of damage, you have to move and shoot bombs somewhere else, the area you were in having been completely wrecked. Another cool factor would be chats with fellow pilots in between missions(see every Wing Commander game).I started a topic on Kazan's UBB clone at Alliance Productions in November, check that out if you want to see where I got most of these ideas.

yep i've been browsing that site and "Living in Greytown" for a while.. their both nifty
Cruise Missiles-
Long range (5-9km) bomber mounted missiles. They travel very fast and are hard to shoot down. Compatibility is limited and has long lock time.
-----------
Missile Flight modes-
Kind of like the Harpoon ASM. Flies close to the water (in this case a straight line) and does a 'pop-up' attack. in essence would make it harder to shoot down. Also, evasive manoevours (sic) for these weapons could be used.
-----------
ability to set hitpoints on missiles that can be killed.
-----------
removal of table restrictions.
-----------
ships that can cloak on and off for short periods of time.
-----------
anything with big explosions is a plus.

It would be really cool if I woke up on Christmas morning and got a life.

Here's something I forgot I'd want to see...fly-by-wire missiles and bombs. Meaning, control the warhead from your ship, so you can attempt to dodge a capship's defensive fire. Another cool idea would be stealth bombers and stealth bombs, thus increasing the need for AWACS.

...And just because I'm new here doesn't mean you can laugh at me.

ok, that all makes sense. The cruise missile concept is also really nice. Oh yeah, planetary missions would be nice too.

Yeah, for atmospheric missions, you'd need to worry about how aerodynamic your ship is; a ship like the Herc2 is gonna take a lot of punishment from friction with the atmosphere; a ship like the Horus or Thoth, on the other hand, is inherently aerodynamic, so it's less of a concern. For that matter, none of the Vasudan fighters are as bulky as their Terran counterparts, excepting the bombers.
