Yeah but the vote only gets counted once per IP address. If they vote again from the same IP, the vote doesn't actually get added in. In some cases, such as with AOL users, they can vote a lot of times because of the dynamic IP nature of AOL. There's not much I can do about that.

um.. how is that any more effective. Its easy to delete cookies.

that's the ONLY good thing about AOL, ever changing IP numbers

FS Watch Poll Bug

People can vote twice, three times, ten billion times. As much as they want.

I think if people know how to delete a cookie they are just as likely to know that they could vote repeatedly on a dynamic IP ISP.

Either way, someone can vote repeatedly. This way there's only a select few. With cookies, everyone can.

Can´t you combine them?

Yeah.. we could... I know the VWatch Archives uses a User Login system, plus IP tracking, plus cookies to watch for mission review spam.

All that isn't worth it. Its not worth tracking cookies _and_ IP, when the people on a dynamic IP system can repeatedly vote by deleting cookies. Yay.. all that work and we've done absolutely nothing.

There is a small difference in the level of security between the poll scripts and Archive review scripts though.

I think that anyone who really respects this site at all would only vote once. Anyone who didn't respect it wouldn't come back to vote again. Heh , its only a poll too...Just pure fun .. Its not like we're voteing on the president of the US , but I understand your concerns
