Question HLP down?

I can't seem to get to HLP. That's okay we've got VW, but what's up?

3DActionPlanet appears to be completely down so it's not HLP that is affected.

Should be up once the day shift start waking up in America.

Why is it that when HLP goes down, nobody ever rushes off to F2S anymore?

A bit crude at times, but still entertaining.

And there's no language filter. :P

or warpstorm.com?

Really though, it seems that the database is down, but the dynamic server itsself is up, and so is the normal FTP/HTTP. That means that anything that needs to use something from a database (Wiki, Forums, dynamic HLP site) will be broken. However, if something uses just PHP without a database, it will run on the dynamic server, but still work. And if something is just a file or plain HTML, it'll work too.

It's a fairly isolated problem, and it seems someone on gamespy just slammed the wrong case, in fustration of loosing minesweeper again.

Yup. DB or DB connection by the looks of it. Wonder how many thousand emails Styxx has got by now?

Hmm, why does this place look the exact same as it did when HLP went down before?

Except for those swimsuit calendar ads in the corner, don't remember those.

Posted by Pete on 06-09-2004 09:49 AM:

Those swimsuit ads have been there for sometime. Also, they used to popup !

Things keep gettin' better 'n better.

http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~freespace/hlp/

Now I get a "file ~/freespace/hlp/ can't be found" error in Mo.

Now, before it wen't down, Sandwich posted this on the main page:

quote:

HLP Status
Well guys, it looks like GS seriously messed up the dynamic4 MySQL server. Hopefully this won't result in any data loss, but it's beyond our control this time.

Without the dynamic4 MySQL server, both the forums and the site are down for the count. Static pages still work, which is how you're able to read this.

The frame to the right should display the HLP dynamic site once it's operational again. When that happens, you can simply click here to get rid of this frame and resume your life as a slav-errr... forumite.

Using IE I still get the quoted message, but Mozilla keeps giving me these errors. WTF?

Hey guys.

Wish I knew what to tell you. All I know is what kasperl already stated - the MySQL server is FUBARed, but the dynamic4 HTTP server is still running "fine". I guess we could pull out the old UBB if worse comes to worse - that was filesystem based, not database-based, so it would still work.

I just hope that we don't go through another round of lost user registrations like we had last year (or was that 2 years ago?).

Anyway, if things get fixed and I haven't taken down that notification page, let me or Styxx know and we'll take care of it.

I might be out for the evening, so SMS me - (972) 54-659-3753 (yes, that's an international SMS for the vast majority of you - Israel) - if HLP comes back up... or just for the fun of it.

That's one expensive SMS, AFAIK....

It was last year, IIRC. I got lost too.

And I hate to be right, in this case.
