TrueSpace

I used to be quite good at 3D objects, few years ago since I had ago mind. Never used TrueSpace and it seems very different to the previous ones I used; is there anyway to split the truespace screen up into the more traditional (for me) layout of 3 + 1 screens for front, side, top and rendered elevation?

I can't suss out this WYSIWYG malarky!

It is so frustrating, it seems tricky enough as it is never mind this TrueSpace method. I have some excellent ideas for ships and I can't do any of them till I can use this programme

Don't suppose you could be slightly more helpful than that, I sooo want to try out my idea but cannot at present as TrueSpace is just a bit too bizarre till I get that "normal" layout

Quick tutorial:

create a cube, press the triangle buttion and texture it useing a 128*128 or 256*256 bmp file and create a pcx file with the same sises.

then in drag and drop the saved Truespace file ("cob")in to "cob2fs".

open the newly creatred file in "FSMM 2" and rename the selected file to your PCX file that you created ealear.

Open a table file (".tbl") and create a new entry.

or just to test it. bonus2t-02.pof. then in fred2 Place a GTF ares (thats your model)

Dont run fs2 because it has not got any special points.

(this is breif and probaly wrong)

so here is the full version NOT made by me!

Yes, if you see the thing down near the bottom right corner of the screen saying "New Perspective View" or whatever, just left click on it and hold down until the menu shows up. From there you can select the views you want.

Remember though, they -will- be in seperate boxes, resizable and all, not split by the funny window-frame thing that Polytron has. It should still suffice though.

How do you get a model that you have converted from a POF to a COB to show up in TrueSpace or 3DExploration? Cause I want to be able to convert an existing model to a .dxf and edit it from blender so I can make a Hercules Mark III.

When you open up 3DExploration:
1. Click open from file menu
2. Select file type as "Truespace .cob"
3. Open folder in which the cob file is located.
4. Double click on file.
5. Click save as under file menu
6. Under file type select dxf
7. Click save.
8. Choose following options you want
9. You're done.

In POF2COB did you select an LOD to convert? You HAVE to click on LOD 0 before hitting the convert button.
