Fred2 Question Jump in whenTarget X is damaged?

Hi. I got an question. I want to made a mission in which Ships should jump in. When a Orion station has 54 percent Hull integrity left. How do i make this? I tried with "percent ships destroyed -> 54 -> EA Athen" in Arrival cue. But it didn't worked. Help. Thanks.

P.S. Im German, so sorry for bad english. Hope you understood the core of what i mean.

WyattMax has it correct. Make sure you always use < rather than = for events like this

quote:
From my FAQ
I have an event that is supposed to occur when a ship is 50% damaged but it isn`t happening

The problem might be that you have an event like the one on the left in your campaign. The problem with this event is that it only comes true when the ship hits 50%. However certain kinds of weapons don`t cycle the counter down but change hits-left immediately (e.g from 51% to 47% without passing through the intervening numbers). The result is that the event is never triggered since the ship was never 50% damaged. This problem is easily solved though. Instead of triggering when the ship is at 50% the event on the right triggers as soon as the ship is less than 51%. Thereby avoiding the problem.

The Percentage ships destroyed is used for something else. Suppose you have 5 ships in an enemy wing and you want something to occur when 3 of them are destroyed. You'd use

when
-Percentage ships destroyed
--60
-What ever you want.

Fred is really easy, once you get used to it

As to why you don't want to use = is , some weapons may cause enough damage at the ship that it may jump from 51% to 49% , skippin the 50% , thus killing the event if you use =

Mostly yes, sometimes no. FRED2 can be a real pain in the ass, sometimes it works the way you want and sometimes it will leak in your eye for every possible event (have you ever heard that FS2 refuses function "when" as illeagal operation? I have, more than once).

Luckily mostly is enough and I have always been able to gather all the fragments of my nerves and clue them back in place. So I will drink for the FRED2

Whatever headaches you've experienced with FRED2 will pale in comparison to some of the other editors I've used. THOSE....are freaking hard, convoluted messes.

Yes I agree on that, FRED2 is fairly easy to compare other editors, infact its (almost) all that mission makers could wish for. The point was that FRED can still be generaly pain in the ass, even if it has been used long time

It. would be perfect if somebody could make an tutorial on how to create that damn Briefing. Iv'e figured out how to make Command briefing (thats very easy) but that damn briefing with 3d maps where the objects are in mission that's really pain in the ass.
